Thoughts from our Global CEO, Jim Farley on why electric vehicles are here to stay.

    CEO at Ford Motor Company

As a lifelong car guy, I was surprised when I fell in love with electric vehicles. And it wasn't because of government policies or political beliefs. It's because I drive one. And as CEO of Ford Motor Company, I see how they can improve the lives of our customers. Electric vehicles remove daily hassles and remind us why we love to drive. In my 40 years developing vehicles, one thing I've learned is that you never want to be on the wrong side of customers and what matters in their lives.

Confessions from a lifelong Petrol Head. I love electric vehicles and it has nothing to do with politics.

One hundred years ago this summer, Ford Motor Company was planning the ultimate road trip. The 10 millionth Model T rolled off the line and was personally inspected by Henry and Edsel Ford before being shipped to New York to begin its journey. One of the drivers, Frank Kulick, had done the same trip to San Francisco in 1909 when Ford wanted to prove the car’s durability! Would you like to be part of the company who put the world on wheels? As a lifelong Motorsports fan, I am beyond grateful to have had the privilege of witnessing the Mustang GT3 Champion Spirit Livery at Ford World Headquarters earlier today. This livery is a true testament to Ford's legacy of performance and a celebration of some of best Mustang sports car racers over the past 60 years. Alongside this, we were able to directly interact with the drivers in a Q&A session leading up to the Grand Prix weekend. I’m honored to be part of a company that strives for excellence in all ways, especially as a motorsports fan! #WeAreFord #FordPerformance #FordIntern

In the heart of Ferndale, Michigan, Affirmations serves as a long-standing hub where LGBTQ+ communities and allies in southeast Michigan access crucial support. Since its humble beginnings in 1989, Affirmations has tremendously expanded its comprehensive services, supporting the community more than ever before. Affirmations' Executive Director, Cheryl Czach, champions the cause, having started as a volunteer over a decade ago and eventually becoming Board President and full-time leader. Cheryl reflects, “Pride is not only a celebration filled with joy, but also a profound sense of community and belonging.” As Affirmations celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, it continues to provide a safe haven offering mental health therapy, legal assistance, youth programming, educational resources, and more for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and expressions. Recently, Affirmations hosted its second annual adult pride prom and is gearing up to host their youth pride prom, providing LGBTQ+ individuals the chance to attend prom with their chosen companions. Cheryl points out, “While we've come a long way, there's still much work to do, making Pride month a moment to reflect on my efforts to support my community and ensure equal rights.” Affirmations’ Let Us Help Food Pantry is one of their proudest achievements, made possible through partnerships with organizations like Ford Philanthropy. Operating monthly, the pantry prioritizes a thoughtful shopping experience. For instance, volunteers greet visitors, assist with sign-in, and stay with them throughout their visit. "Folks can choose what they want to bring home, and I think it's a really beautiful way to address food insecurity with a lot of grace and respect," Cheryl said. Volunteer onboarding occurs twice yearly, with the next session scheduled for fall, and you can also contribute regularly to the Giving Every Month (GEMs) donor program. Earlier this week, Kriti Shukla, myself, and five other interns and I had the privilege of representing our intern cohort of over 300 in a fireside chat with Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley and CDO Erica Klampfl. We had the chance to pose a variety of questions, thanks in no small part to the support of the recruitment team and Brandy Joe Plambeck. It was an invaluable opportunity to gain deeper insights into the company, receive a wealth of professional and personal advice from esteemed leaders, and connect with the individuals steering this remarkable organization. My summer at Ford has been incredibly enriching so far, filled with numerous learning experiences. I eagerly anticipate what more lies ahead! #WeAreFord #FordIntern

"If you were in my chair tomorrow morning, what would you do for a day?" asked Ford CEO Jim Farley at last week's annual fireside chat with our summer interns. "I think I would take a Mustang out on the track," replied co-host and software engineering intern Sophia L. Great idea, Sophia!

    CEO at Ford Motor Company

Last week, I had the privilege of speaking with Ford Motor Company’s summer interns at our annual fireside chat. The interns came with some great questions, and I shared a few pieces of life and career advice, including some things I wish I'd learned when I was their age. As a leader, it's important to keep growing. There’s always more to learn! Here's some of the simple, but impactful advice that I shared with them. Hope you find it useful, as well.
