Forge Nano just wrapped an eventful week in Washington, DC!   Our CTO James Trevey was invited to The White House to discuss ways in which the U.S. can cement its future leadership in electrification, specifically battery innovation and home-grown capacity. With Forge Nano's work to increase cell-level performance and safety while lowering costs utilizing its #ALDep Atomic Armor technology, and Forge Battery's plans to produce cells in the U.S. at its Raleigh, NC Gigafactory, it was a fruitful day of discussion on ways in the which the government can continue to support the burgeoning industry.    James also shared his insights on the U.S. battery supply chain to a packed house at the Benchmark Mineral Intelligence Giga USA 2024 event. With all the work the government is putting in to create a robust battery industry, a key element sourcing critical materials from within the U.S.   Interested in learning more about Forge Nano's work in the battery industry? Forge Nano is proud to call Colorado home. Forge Nano was born out of the labs at the University of Colorado Boulder. Many of our employees are alumni of local Colorado Universities and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The Rockies have enabled us to innovate at breakneck speeds and deliver cutting edge technology since our inception. When the Colorado Aerotropolis reached out to feature us in their campaign to promote economic investment in the Denver metro region, it was a no brainer. Learn more about the Colorado Aerotropolis and the ways in which Forge Nano and other local companies are contributing to a thriving community powered by innovation!

For decades, we have lived in a world where thermal #ALDep has been dogged by the inability to offer materials that either need low temperature or additional energy to push difficult reactions forward. We engineered plasma-enhanced ALD to address these materials, but at the expense of conformality, especially for films other than oxides. For deposition in high-aspect ratio structures, we have been limited to only a handful of materials. But this is a world we no longer live in. Let us introduce you to CRISP, or Catalyzing Reactions for Induced Surface Processes, Forge Nano’s suite of catalyzed thermal ALD reactions.  While catalyzed thermal #ALDep reactions have been around since the 90s, our ALDx technology has finally allowed us to transfer these processes to manufacturing tools.  Our CRISP depositions utilize vanishingly small amounts of catalyst to perform depositions at lower temperatures and for difficult materials without plasma or conformality limitations. By doing so, we can address emerging applications where the deposition of oxide, nitride and metal stacks are needed in high-aspect ratio structures, like those in through silicon vias. In this article you will learn:  - Why depositions in high-aspect ratio structures are important  - The mechanism behind catalyzed ALD reactions  - How CRISP materials compare to PE-ALD materials Check out the full article here -->  https://lnkd.in/gcvXhNKn

Fluidization is a method of suspending particles in a way that causes them to behave in a liquid-like state. It is an extremely important process for #powder #ALDep since it allows every surface of every particle to be exposed to the incoming reactants so each particle can be coated conformally. The way in which a powder behaves when fluidized depends on its aeration and permeability properties. Every powder that goes into a fluidized bed reactor (FBR) must have a minimum fluidization velocity and pressure drop determined to optimize the suspension of particles in the reactor. This is done by creating a fluidization curve of gas velocity versus pressure drop. The point at which the curve plateaus and the pressure drop is stabilized gives you your minimum fluidization velocity. At Forge Nano, we have optimized the fluidization of hundreds of powders and you can see how different powders and batch sizes behave differently when fluidized in our Prometheus tool. FBRs have inherent scalability, rapid mixing and high rates of heat transfer, making them an excellent choice for industrial powder coating applications. Plus, the way they make the powder move makes you want to dance!

Safety first!   Last week, Forge Nano hosted its annual Safety Day to rehash company safety policies, demonstrate key preventative safety measures and spend time team building with employees. The day kicked off with a recap of Forge Nano safety precautions and in-office preventative tools and systems. The Thornton Fire Dept demonstrated fire safety measures, with fire extinguisher training and best practices. The Forge team broke into groups to play safety trivia and search the facility for pre-placed safety hazards in a scavenger hunt. The day wrapped with an all company party where employees connected over food, drinks, ice cream and a plethora of activities including a dunk tank. Some Forge Nano executives took a dunk to conclude a great day....    Safety is a key pillar at Forge Nano. Safety Day is critical to keep tabs on in-house safety precautions and review key policies that created to keep our employees and our customers safe. But it's also a day to spend time with our coworkers and have a bit of fun!
