Employee Pride Spotlight! Samantha Cotter, our Nonprofits Account Manager here at GA, has a long history of advocating as a member of the LGBTQ+ community all over the country. She has organized both professionally and personally on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community fighting for liberation, safety, and freedom for all members of her community. When asked about an important memory from her work at Pride, Samantha recalled how important it was to her to keep pride inclusive, “Organizing during pride month can be the most rewarding experience. I remember crowd sourcing fundraising for wheelchairs, ASL and Spanish interpreters, and other necessary accessibility items to ensure that when we say all community members are welcome, we truly show that.” At Grassroots, Samantha supports LGBTQ+ organizations in donor acquisition and uses her background as fuel for her current work. “I understand that Pride month is more than just a time for celebration, it's also a time to continue the hard advocacy work nonprofits do 12 months a year to push for a better future for the LGBTQ+ community,” she explains. When Samantha isn’t organizing or advocating, you can find her doing yoga or walking her dog, Quinny, in the Petworth neighborhood of D.C.
