Last week, Internews Europe CEO Meera Selva joined United Nations Office at Geneva and UNESCO Geneva for a special #WPFDGeneva2024 event focusing on the protection of climate and environment journalists 🌳 🌏 Speaking on the battle against climate misinformation, Meera said: “The best antidote to misinformation is a healthy information environment in which media play a crucial role. Journalists are not the ones putting out the misinformation, nor should they be held responsible for combating it. Because if journalists just start doing fact checking and combating any rumors, they won't be able to do their actual job of investigating and storytelling." This timely conversation took place ahead of the release of Internews’ new report ‘Covering the Planet: Assessing the State of Climate and Environmental Journalism Globally’, which publishes June 5th.
