We were honored to host Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman for a tour of 2 Peachtree, an office-to-residential conversion in Downtown Atlanta. Transforming this 890,000-square-foot, 44-story office tower adjacent to Woodruff Park and the Five Points MARTA station is expected to create at least 200 new housing units and further Downtown's redevelopment. We thank Secretary Todman for her dedication to ensuring affordable housing is accessible in all communities. #MovingAtlantaForward

The World Economic Forum, in collaboration with Avison Young, launched the Social Value Playbook, which identifies key principles that real estate, investors, builders, and city leaders can use to create better social value - and social outcomes - as part of urban development. As contributors to this report, we are pleased to share this with you today and interested to hear your thoughts on where this work could go next! #MovingAtlantaForward https://lnkd.in/e2iQV9H2

Heather and Rafa Ramirez opened Havana Cigars in 2016, which specializes in Cuban coffee and authentic Cuban Seed Cigars. “For us it’s about quality over quantity and supporting other woman- and minority-owned businesses like ourselves,” says Rafa, who is Afro Cuban, born and raised in Havana. There was a time when Heather was uncertain about the future of Havana Cigars after their original store, also on Auburn Avenue, was unexpectedly sold to a developer. With help from the Invest Atlanta Resurgence Grant Fund, which was created in 2020 to support economic growth and recovery in the wake of the pandemic, they were able to move into a new, larger location on the same block. “We would never have been able to stay and build out a new store if it weren’t for Invest Atlanta and this grant,” says Heather. “We are grateful. There’s so much historic richness and good energy in this community. Magic happens here.” #HispanicHeritageMonth #MovingAtlantaForward

Removing blighted properties is one way Invest Atlanta and our partners are revitalizing neighborhoods like English Avenue and Vine City. Today, we joined Mayor Andre Dickens, Atlanta Housing, Westside Future Fund and others to show how land acquisition strategies are helping to eliminate blight and bring new affordable housing to these communities. “We purchased 48 properties in Vine City and English Avenue with a goal of redeveloping them. I’m happy to say that many of those properties are already activated, many of those properties are part of the Atlanta Land Trust so they will be permanently affordable," said Invest Atlanta COO Dawn Arnold. Together, we are #MovingAtlantaForward!

Mercer Street Meals recently made a significant leap forward thanks to Invest Atlanta's Open for Business Fund. The funding enabled the business to transition from a home kitchen to a fully equipped commercial kitchen. Recognizing the challenge in providing a nutritious meal after a long workday, Mercer Street Meals specializes in pre-order, ready-made and high-quality meals. “We are committed to providing good, nutritious meals at an affordable price, making everyday life a little easier for busy families,” Gracie tells us. With support from Invest Atlanta’s Atlanta Recovery Loan, Lance and Gracie renovated a commercial space they found in their neighborhood, as it was important for them to stay close to their customer base. They recently marked one year at their new space and are thrilled to continue to serve the community. #MovingAtlantaForward #AtlantaOpenforBusiness Wells Fargo
