During the Gabelli Funds’ 16th Annual Media & Entertainment Symposium, we heard from big names in the industry as they discussed the latest trends and challenges shaping the sector. Our team members recently published their reflections report that highlights some of the key insights. Topics include: -Virtual Multichannel Video Programming Distributors such as Hulu and Netflix are here to stay. Younger consumers are opting to “cut the cable cord”. -Despite an increase in digital advertising, local TV is expected to capture the majority of political ad spend in for the upcoming 2024 Presidential election. -Broadcasting companies’ revenue is expected to suffer in the near-term due to exposure to advertising. -Transit advertising (especially in airports) continues to be a growth area for Out-of-home advertising, a trend that is supported by increases in air travel.
