Check out the latest Jhpiego blog from Dr. Tigistu Adamu Ashengo! To end HIV/AIDS as a public health threat we need to kick-start a radical re-shaping of client care. While the world looks to expand primary and community-based health care, those who are pregnant and postpartum—who are particularly vulnerable to HIV infection—should not be left behind. Fostering a dramatic evolution of client-centered care requires putting HIV prevention into the hands of those who need it most, including those who are pregnant and postpartum. Prevention is self-care. https://lnkd.in/e6bPUuKm
About us
Jhpiego is a nonprofit global leader in the creation and delivery of transformative health care solutions for the developing world. In partnership with national governments, health experts and local communities, we build health providers’ skills, and develop systems that save lives now and guarantee healthier futures for women and their families. Our aim is revolutionizing health care for the planet’s most disadvantaged people. Jhpiego, a Johns Hopkins University Affiliate, translates decades of program experience and in-depth technical knowledge into moments of care that can mean the difference between life and death for women and families. The moment a woman gives birth; the moment a midwife helps a newborn to breath; the moment a nurse screens for cervical cancer with a simple vinegar swab; the moment a community health worker tests a man for HIV and reports he is HIV free. By embedding the know-how and skills into everyday practice, we are able to increase access to quality health services and create a healthier future for generations to come. Access to lifesaving health care for all people, whoever they are, wherever they live, that’s our mission. Jhpiego saves lives, improves health, transforms futures.

🙌 An excellent look at how Jhpiego is integrating HIV with primary health care in Côte d'Ivoire. "The people served by these frontline health workers are getting more of their health needs met, not just their HIV treatment and prevention needs." 🙌
Very pleased that RISE Côte d’Ivoire team’s efforts to integrate HIV with primary care have been recognized, and more importantly I am proud that the people served by these front line health workers are getting more of their health needs met, not just their HIV treatment and prevention needs. Today, at the #WorldCancerCongress, Jhpiego hosted a dynamic session, filling the room with global health leaders eager to hear about innovative approaches to women’s cancer care. Moderated by Unitaid’s Smiljka de Lussignys, the session showcased real-world success stories, with Jhpiego's Dr. Parag Bhamare presenting case studies of countries leading the way in HPV vaccination and screening integration. Dr. Sheila Tualufo from Mozambique and Salim SLIM (DrPH,MPH,MSc, BSc -Hons) from Tanzania shared their valuable insights on implementing these strategies at the primary health care level, underscoring the urgency of scaling up HPV interventions. UAntwerpen’s Dr. Alex Vorsters closed the session by discussing the latest research on HPV vaccine monitoring through urine sampling. It’s clear: by integrating vaccination and screening services, we can make significant strides toward eliminating cervical cancer.

Ahead of #UNGA79, Jhpiego’s President & CEO Leslie Mancuso joins a critical conversation on the intersection of climate change and global health. Together with Takeda, Society for Family Health Rwanda and Mercy Corps, we’re highlighting bold actions to build climate-resilient health systems. Our collective efforts—rooted in partnerships and investments like Takeda’s—have already reached 250,000 women in rural India with safe, quality maternal, newborn, and child care. By the end of our project, 1.5 million women annually will benefit from strengthened health systems. The time for bold vision and courageous action is now! Let’s build health systems that can withstand tomorrow’s challenges and ensure access for all. Join us in pushing for a global response that prioritizes the most vulnerable.
In the lead-up to #UNGA79, we’re hosting a virtual discussion on partnering to build resilient health systems worldwide with Global CSR partners Jhpiego, Society for Family Health Rwanda & Mercy Corps. We’ll also announce the winners of this year’s employee vote for philanthropic programs and preview our 2025 #requestforproposal. #ClimateHealthNexus Register here: https://lnkd.in/ezWDJJnD
