Here's a look inside one of our newly renovated office spaces in La Vista, Nebraska, for our technology and data services employees. This 115,294-square-foot building features a new fitness center, a renovated cafeteria, a Starbucks, an outdoor basketball court and two outdoor pickleball courts. It is adjacent to a lake with a walking path around it. Nearly 500 employees are now working in this space. Our building group is currently working on the second building on the La Vista campus, and staff will begin relocating to the space later this month. Improvements are being done in two phases. Once phase 1 is complete, the building will have space for 420 staff and will feature a renovated café. We’ve designed these spaces for our employees and evolving business needs, and we can’t wait to see how they inspire collaboration and innovation!

Today at the Gastech Strategic Conference, Thomas Shelby, Executive Vice President of Kiewit Corporation and President of Kiewit Energy Group, contributed to a dynamic panel discussion on "Harnessing new business models to navigate a complex CCUS value chain and achieve decarbonization goals.” The Gastech Strategic Conference is dedicated to accelerating a shared global vision and tackling the energy industry’s biggest challenges: security, affordability, accessibility, and sustainability. Tom addressed critical topics such as advancing carbon capture projects to FID and overcoming supply chain and labor constraints in the CCS space. His insights, alongside other industry leaders, shed light on what’s needed to scale decarbonization efforts and meet net-zero targets. A timely and impactful conversation as the industry works to overcome barriers and accelerate progress. #Gastech2024 #Decarbonization #EnergyTransition #Kiewit

We're gearing up to start work on the Highway 1 – 264th Street Interchange in British Columbia and our priority is always ensuring our team is ready with the safest equipment. To enhance safety, the entire crew on this project will be wearing the Type II helmet, replacing the traditional hard hat. These helmets are designed to provide better defense against impacts to the front, back and sides of the head. They have an expanded foam inner shell to reduce energy impact and a chinstrap to ensure they stay safely in place. All new projects in the United States and Canada are also adopting these helmets, while existing projects are gradually phasing out traditional hard hats. In these photos from a recent press conference, you can see our team members presenting the helmets to the Premier of British Columbia and our client for the first time. Kiewit’s scope of work on the project includes updating the 264th Street interchange, one of the busiest corridors in the province, to accommodate traffic. We’ll also focus on widening Highway 1 to include HOV lanes and improve active transportation infrastructure. “Our mission is clear: to enhance safety, reduce congestion and support economic growth in the Fraser Valley. By widening the highway, upgrading the interchanges, creating a transit hub and improving access points, we are not just building a road; we are building a future of safer and more efficient travel for everyone who relies on this corridor.” – Kiewit Project Manager Matt Budau

Our team is currently working on a bridge replacement project in North Carolina that presents a unique challenge: protecting wildlife. In collaboration with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, we’re replacing five bridges along a 13-mile stretch of I-40 in Pigeon River Gorge. These bridges are being updated due to structural concerns and to meet current safety standards. So far, three bridges have been completed, with the two remaining bridges over Pigeon River and Fines Creek Road scheduled for completion by October 2026. A key aspect of this project is ensuring the safety of local wildlife, including black bears, deer and elk. To address the recent increase in animal-vehicle collisions, the new bridges will feature widened shoulders for safer travel and maintenance, as well as wildlife fencing and pass-throughs to facilitate safer animal movement. Given the remote location of the project, we’ve had to be strategic in our planning to overcome logistical challenges, such as transporting equipment to the site. This has involved constructing access roads and a temporary bridge. We’ve also partnered with numerous local contractors and craft workers to support the project. Kiewit is the Construction Manager/General Contractor.

Primergy Solar and Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners' Gemini Solar + Storage Project, the largest DC-coupled solar + battery installation in North America, has reached commercial operation. This historic solar and storage project outside of Las Vegas sits on less than 5,000 acres and consists of more than 1.8 million solar panels, providing 690 MWac during the day and 1,400 MWh of stored electricity. The power generated at the site will power the grid and reduce pollution and emissions in the area. Gemini is capable of producing enough clean energy to power approximately 10 percent of Nevada’s peak demand. Kiewit is the EPC contractor for this project, which also includes the construction of an overhead collection system, a collector substation yard, and generation tie line to Nevada Energy’s Crystal Substation.

We are thrilled to announce the Klamath River is now free flowing once again. This comes after the removal of the cofferdam at Iron Gate Dam. Removing the last of the four dams opens up 400 miles of river to salmon migration. This monumental achievement would not have been possible without our project team and client, the leadership of the Tribes across the Klamath Basin, and other organizations and agencies who have played a role in reaching this milestone. Now that the river is back in its channel, crews will begin removing diversion infrastructure at these sites, and another contractor will work on restoring over 8,000 acres of reservoir area. 📸 Yurok Tribe

Happy birthday to the late Peter Kiewit, the man who shaped our organization into what it is today. "Our company would not be where it is today if we had been content with mediocre results. We have continually tried to excel in order to accomplish our objectives of becoming the best contracting organization on Earth." - Peter Kiewit, 1976
