At the beginning of the month, we celebrated the opening of Girlhood (It's complicated) with a ribbon cutting event at the Minnesota History Center. We were joined by representatives of MNHS Presenting Sponsors UnitedHealthcare, Securian Financial, Judy Schwartau and the Women's Organization of the Minnesota Historical Society along with exhibit contributors to the Minnesota: Where Girls Shoot Hoops locally focused section, MNHS leadership and staff, and Minnesota organizations serving women and girls. From now until June 1, you can view the exhibit and see how girls have spoken up, challenged expectations, and been on the front lines of social change throughout U.S. History. Get your tickets now to see Girlhood (It's complicated) at the {{facebook_mention(183972036624|Minnesota History Center)}}. Ticket price includes admission to all Minnesota History Center exhibits. MNHS members get in free. Tickets: https://mnhs.info/3ZyyJtY Photography by Lauren B. Photography.

Very grateful for such an amazing partnership with Jena Holliday. We spent two session with incredibly brilliant young folks who learned about contemporary Black artist, such as Deborah Roberts, Christian Robinson, Al-Baseer, and Alma Thomas. The group engaged in a range of art forms, and connected it back to the Minnesota Historical Society archives! We are the artist and authors of our own stories. What a beautiful way for young folks to take that into their hands.
