The Voice of the Independent Supermarket Industry
About us
NGA is the national trade association representing the retail and wholesale grocers that comprise the independent sector of the food distribution industry. An independent retailer is a privately owned or controlled food retail company operating a variety of formats. Most independent operators are serviced by wholesale distributors, while others may be partially or fully self-distributing. Some are publicly traded but with controlling shares held by the family and others are employee owned. Independents are the true "entrepreneurs" of the grocery industry and dedicated to their customers, associates, and communities. NGA members include retail and wholesale grocers, state grocers associations, as well as manufacturers and service suppliers. For more information about NGA and the independent sector of the industry, see the NGA website: www.NationalGrocers.org.

Had an amazing time at the Fancy Food Show this week with National Grocers Association members as they participated in a Big Ideas Stage panel focused on Multicultural Merchandising in the Modern Grocery Landscape! It was an honor to help organize this session, which delved into innovative ways to embrace diverse cultures beyond traditional boundaries and break free from the "ethnic aisle." Thank you to Gladys Marquez and William Duran for sharing real-life case studies and strategies on inclusive sourcing and cross-merchandising. And a BIG thank you to Michelle Mendoza for your brilliant moderating and your leadership and direction of the panel! #FancyFoodShow #MulticulturalMerchandising #CuratorsofCulture

What an honor for the National Grocers Association and our members to have an independent grocer in Congress! Congrats to Congressman Mike Rulli who was sworn in this week to represent the 6th district of Ohio. Mike has been assigned to two important committees for our industry: Judiciary and Education & Workforce. We look forward to working with Congressman Rulli for many years to come! Thanks to all who helped support Mike’s campaign for Congress! He’s on the ballot again in November so let’s keep up the support!

“I prefer to find the best people possible and give them the support they need in order to do their job. I like to think I lead with a collaborative style, looking for input from the people closest to the action and our leadership team before making any major decisions. I do not make most of the day-to-day decisions in our company. Those decisions are made by the people entrusted with that responsibility.” - Harps Food Stores, Inc.
