In celebration of Pride Month, get to know members of our LGBTQ+ community who are making a difference for patients and colleagues alike—and advancing health equity for all: Michael Maglione, MS, physician assistant (PA) in the Department of Surgery and specialist in robotic surgery, is committed to ensuring that all patients feel safe and welcome when they visit our hospitals. “When I first started in medicine, I had the perception that this is not a field gay people usually go into. But now I’ve realized how incredibly wrong I was. When I first attended a meeting of NYU Langone Health’s LGBTQ+ Advisory Council, there were about 30 people at my first meeting, and they came from a wide range of departments. Having councils that help guide policymakers means there is input from us, not only as providers but also as patients. I’m so grateful that we can be there as a voice and advocate for the community.” #PrideMonth
