I'm so happy to share the news that today, the Secretary of Commerce announced the reappointment of Corey Ridings, who serves as Manager of Fish Conservation at Ocean Conservancy, to the Pacific Fishery Management Council.
The Council manages federal fisheries off the coasts of California, Oregon and Washington, which are home to a rich ecosystem that includes salmon, sardines, otters, and whales, as well as a diversity of fishing and coastal communities.
Corey is a powerful voice for conservation and equity at the council, has over two decades of experience in fisheries science, management, and policy, and over ten years as a conservation professional advocating for sustainable fisheries. She's well known for her collaborative and community-centered approach, and her nomination had broad support from Tribes, the fishing industry, ocean community members, and non-governmental organizations. She's also an inspiring colleague, and I'm so impressed by her commitment to fisheries and the people connected to them.
