Providing the corporate framework for NIH research administration
About us
OER Mission: Provides the corporate framework for NIH research administration, ensuring scientific integrity, public accountability, and effective stewardship of the NIH extramural research portfolio. Extramural Research at a Glance Extramural grants account for approximately 83 percent of NIH's $30 billion budget. These are awarded to investigators throughout the U.S. and abroad. Approximately 10 percent of the NIH budget supports NIH intramural investigators, NIH staff who conduct research. OER supports extramural research by providing policy and guidance to the 24 NIH Institutes and Centers that award grants. OER serves as a vital interface between the NIH and the biomedical research community by guiding investigators through the process of attaining grants funding and helping them understand and navigate through federal policies and procedures.

Great tip for fellowship applicants! 📌Join NIH experts on September 19 to learn more about the changes being made to the fellowship application and review process: https://lnkd.in/gvYfr5dX #NIHfellowship #researchfunding
If you’ve either applied for a fellowship grant (F) before or have sponsored one, be aware that previous applications won’t serve as a good example due to coming changes in the application. The applications for individual fellowships (F30, F31, F32, F99/K00) at The National Institutes of Health are changing beginning with receipt dates on or after January 25, 2025. The changes shorten the application but you’ll need to budget more time to read the new application instructions carefully, especially if you were planning to use an existing application as a template. Learn more about the revised application requirements: https://lnkd.in/gBSHw84h

Go for the gold when following NIH grant application instructions! If instructions in the app guide and funding opportunity conflict, the opportunity wins. If instructions in the app guide/opportunity conflict with an NIH Guide Notice, the notice wins. 🏆 https://go.nih.gov/MrqTZAm
