The University of Alabama football and ONEOK’s United Way campaign – two kickoffs that I look forward to every fall. While Alabama’s success on the field this year remains unknown in a post-Coach Saban era, one thing that isn’t in doubt is ONEOK’s commitment to giving back to the communities where we work and live. For me, this fall is a particularly special one, as I have the privilege to serve as a tri-chair for Tulsa Area United Way’s (TAUW) centennial campaign alongside Emeka Nnaka and Stephania Grober. Over the last several weeks, we’ve visited many nonprofit organizations and programs that are directly supported by the TAUW. It’s been powerful to see and hear, firsthand, how these agencies impact the complex needs that exist in our community. Here at ONEOK, we recently kicked off our official company campaign in support of the United Way organizations across our more than 20-state footprint. We’re off to a great start – which is no surprise given our employees’ long-standing dedication to giving back. By prioritizing service, we create meaningful impact, strengthen relationships, and contribute to something greater than ourselves. While I won’t ask you to root for the away team on November 23 in Norman, I do hope you’ll start your own tradition by joining me and ONEOK in supporting your local United Way this fall. #ONEOKGivesBack #LiveUnited

Safety is not just a buzzword for us at ONEOK. It's a Core Value that we are committed to living each and every day - with our employees, our partners, and our communities. Safety and resiliency was the theme of a recent emergency #preparedness exercise held in collaboration with the City of Mont Belvieu (Texas), the Mont Belvieu Fire Department and the Mont Belvieu Police Department (Texas). Our Incident Management Team utilized our tactical command vehicles and applied incident command best practices to manage a response to to a simulated natural disaster.

Diversity and Inclusion is one of our Core Values. Our Momentum Leadership Series - a professional development program for early-career employees sponsored by our Women’s Resource Group (WRG) – is one of many examples of our unwavering commitment to equity. Through five, one and a half hour virtual and in-person sessions, 82 participants and their 20 mentors will focus on professional development through identifying, embracing and amplifying authentic leadership skills. Our Fall cohort kicked off yesterday, and thanks to exceptional interest, another fully-enrolled cohort will follow this spring.

#AI is here, and it’s here to stay. Its impact and implications cannot be overstated – particularly in regard to the breathtaking volume of energy it will take to power its promise and possibility.     I recently had the opportunity to spend time with BlackRock’s Will Su, one of the sharpest minds on the intersection of AI and #energy, to discuss AI and much more on the latest episode of our ONEOK employee podcast.     Our conversation was broad – including sharing some of my parenting tips as a father of four – but I was especially struck by our discussion around what will be required from traditional and renewable energy sources if the United States is going to continue to lead in generative AI development.      For example, Will shared that it took 70 zettaflops of calculations per second to train Chat GPT-4 – running on a continuous, 24/7 basis to get the model up and running over time. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝟳𝟬 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱!     Providing the consistent power to enable these cutting-edge technologies is a profound challenge, but one that reliable energy providers like ONEOK can meet.      While it’s too early to know the full extent, initial estimates suggest natural gas demand could increase by 10 billion cubic feet per day by 2030.      Regardless of the demand generated by advancements in AI technology, ONEOK will continue to play a meaningful role in meeting the needs of our power generation customers – as we’ve done for more than a century.     My thanks to Will for taking time to educate our employees about such an important topic.

Iowa – 75% vowels, 100% awesome. This slogan – on a T-shirt kindly given to me by some of our Des Moines employees – perfectly sums up our ONEOK employees in the region, many of whom I had the pleasure of meeting at our local facilities in Pleasant Hill and at our quarterly town hall. I had the benefit of spending a couple of days in the area, connecting with our people and seeing them in action. And while our core business focus – delivering energy products and services vital to an advancing world – remains consistent across our footprint, our work has unique contributions to the communities where our people live and work. In Iowa, for example – one of the top agriculture areas in the world – we support farmers by delivering the valuable fuels they need during planting and harvest season that ultimately supports raising of crops that feed all of us in this country and around the world. I get excited when I talk to employees and they share with me how they are innovating every day by asking the right questions and navigating to better outcomes than before. It’s impressive how our employees always rise to the occasion regardless of the task. My visit to Iowa - on the eve of its legendary State Fair - was no different. Our operators in the area are moving critical energy throughout the Midwest every day, and they are continuously looking for improvements in how we can deliver for our customers, the environment and others. ONEOK is in a constant state of “becoming.” That’s my way of saying that change happens. Navigating change – together – is what sets ONEOK employees apart. And through that change, we encounter opportunities to get better and build resiliency – always driven by an unwavering focus on safety and reliability. Now that’s 100% awesome.
