PRT invites you to join our agency in recognizing the power of #community and the importance of #inclusivity as our agency observes Juneteenth today. #Juneteenth serves as a poignant reminder of our ongoing journey towards #equality and #justice. It’s a day to recognize the resilience and contributions of Black Americans, both past and present, who have shaped every industry and enriched our culture. On this historic day, PRT reaffirms our commitment to public transit that embraces #diversity, #equity, and #inclusion. Let’s amplify Black voices and continue to educate ourselves about the significance of Juneteenth. #juneteenth #diversityandinclusion #celebrateequality #communityfirst #prt

PRT is honored to be hosting the #Pittsburgh cohort of Eno Center for Transportation's EnoMAX 2024 this week! At its core, EnoMAX is all about collaboration. It’s a practical, hands-on initiative that unites driven professionals to pave the way for a more innovative future in transportation (and helps agencies like PRT save money in the process). We will share a video detailing all the benefits for participants and agencies in the coming weeks, but for now, enjoy the pictures from this week's activities. #enoMAX #prt #publictransit #collaboration #development

PRT thanks everyone involved in today's successful rescue exercise on the Mon Incline. During the drill, crews "rescued" five people "stuck" inside one of the incline cars after it had come to a sudden and rough stop. As part of the scenario, maintainers were not able to bring the car back to the station. Pittsburgh EMS crews had to use specialized gear to climb to the car and perform rescue operations. PRT thanks the public for their patience since the Mon Incline had to be shut down for several hours so crews could practice the rescue plan. #training #rescueplan #publictransit #monincline #prt

PRT wants to remind #AlleghenyCounty residents that they can start submitting applications this Monday for Allegheny Go! Under this permanent program, every county resident eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits can apply to receive a 50% discount on transit fares. "Allegheny Go is about more than just discounted fares. It's about dignity and equity," said PRT CEO Katharine Eagan Kelleman. "It's about recognizing that access to reliable transportation is a fundamental right that should be available to everyone." Applicants should first download PRT’s Ready2Ride app from the Apple App Store or Google Play before applying at https://lnkd.in/dN_absxN. Check out the short video 👇🏼 for more details. PRT's operators demonstrate their dedication to the community, incredible skill behind the wheel, and commitment to safety 24/7/365. Navigating Allegheny County's streets without EVER getting into a reportable crash is almost unthinkable. But at last week's PRT board meeting, CEO Katharine Eagan Kelleman recognized four employees who have managed to do just that with Operator Safe Driving Awards. Ed Harkins (30 years without a crash), James Paul (25 years), Randy Shaffer (20 years), and Mark Colussy (20 years) have each made a lasting impact on #AlleghenyCounty and have set a high standard for #excellence. PRT is grateful for their service and proud to honor their remarkable achievements. Ed and Randy weren't able to collect their awards in person, but we want to wish Ed a happy retirement! For three decades, Ed navigated our streets with precision and care, ensuring the safety and comfort of countless passengers. Thank you, Ed! #prt #happyretirement #safedriving #recognition #publictransit

Nine Port Authority of Allegheny County police officers rounded the bases at PNC Park last week! They weren’t there to play baseball, though. Instead, they got the ball rolling on Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Be A Fan Torch Run. The torch run kicked off on the North Shore May 21 before weaving its way across the state to Penn State University, the site of Summer Games 2024. The event is in the 13th year and raises awareness and funds for the organization. "Once you make a Special Olympics friend, you make a friend for life," said Matt Porter, chief of Port Authority of Allegheny County Police. Approximately 2,000 athletes will compete at the Summer Games in State College from June 6-8. To learn more about the torch run and find out how to donate, go to https://lnkd.in/g_5xpNMN #torchrun #GenerationUnified #SummerGames #prt
