We're incredibly proud of our recent Co-op intern from Clemson University, who completed a 5-month rotation at Pratt Industries in our Atlanta design lab! Her journey included mastering design techniques, collaborating with sales representatives, and contributing to the grand opening of our Atlanta plant. Claire's dedication and hard work truly exemplify the spirit of Pratt Industries. We wish Claire all the best as she returns to Clemson University to complete her studies. Thank you for being an invaluable part of our team and for your outstanding contributions!
On June 7th I completed my last day of a 5 month rotation as a Co-op intern at Pratt Industries. Pratt Industries is America’s 5th largest corrugated packaging company and the world’s largest privately-held producer of 100% recycled contianerboard. I worked in the design lab at the Atlanta location which is categorized as a Converting sheet plant. At this plant, recycled sheets were brought in from paper mills and turned into labeled or printed packages and displays. I was truly lucky with my co-op at Pratt industries. I got comfortable knowing the different flute sizes of board and how to package items brought in by sales representatives. Not only did I learn design techniques, I was also able to ride with sales representatives and learn how they bring in our projects we worked on in the design lab. I got a full understanding of how the design flow works from a sales standpoint to ordering the design with the customer serivce representatives. I was also extremely proud to be part of the Pratt Industries Atlanta grand opening on April 9th, where we presented the brilliance of the plant with the world. We got special speeches from our Executive Global Chairman, Anthony Pratt, and the governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp. I was able to help work on special design projects for this opening as well as watch it all come together on the big day. This was all but a piece of my time at Pratt Industries. I am truly thankful to the entire office of Pratt Industries Atlanta. I was touched by everyone in the design lab, the customer services representatives, the sales representatives, management, and the machine operators. I had the most rewarding experience and I felt as if I walked away with at least a year of experience in just 5 months! I want to say thank you to everyone at Pratt who invested so much time and patience to make sure I had the experience of a lifetime. It has been amazing to take a deep dive in the packaging community and make lasting connections. Now it is time to take my knowledge and apply it to the classroom as I complete my last two semesters at Clemson Univetsity!
