Yesterday, the Rice Business - Jones Graduate School of Business Executive Education hosted panel discussion at Ion Houston on managing organizational challenges in energy transition! If you missed the conversation between Kay McCall, Todd Mogil, Gin Kirkland Kinney, Kasper Fröhlich — moderated by Dr. Yan Anthea Zhang — here are a few takeaways: 📣 Your organization needs to have the messaging, strategy and story that works for your employees and shareholders. Develop a transparent thesis that works and gets everyone aligned on your strategy. 🤝 Buy-in and support from the communities that your company revolves around is important. Spend time digging deeper into those communities to better understand who they are and what resonates with them. 💡 All customers want different things. Needs ranging from safety, reliability, affordability and increasing sustainable energy are common. But sometimes, we can't meet every single one of those needs, so this is your opportunity to find what those needs are and personalize your customers' experiences. ✍️ Position yourselves to pivot and make decisions quickly. Without agility in the organization, a strong strategy cannot meet and deliver. 👏 An "all-hands-in" approach is needed. Progress might be incremental, but those incremental contributions make strides to push toward energy transition. ⏳ Have a realistic timeline of making progress towards when things will happen, how they change and when they will change.
