Today, we took delivery of yet another game-changing Oasis Class ship, Royal Caribbean International’s Utopia of the Seas. This ship is the first of its kind to debut with 3-night weekend and 4-night weekday getaways – what we’re calling the ultimate weekend vibes sailings. A recent consumer survey we conducted highlighted the growing demand for short getaways – and more frequent short getaways – to combat the stress resulting from the rapid pace of our lives. We were already in progress on raising the bar for short vacation experiences with Utopia of the Seas. This delivery caps off a milestone week for us that included events for two more new ships in our fleet - Silversea’s Silver Ray naming ceremony and Celebrity Xcel’s keel-laying ceremony. We are laser-focused on delivering a variety of vacation options and priceless memories for our guests, as we pursue our mission to deliver the best vacations responsibly.

One step closer to welcoming Celebrity Xcel to our fleet! Just in from the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France – the keel-laying ceremony marking the beginning of physical construction on this exciting new ship. The keel laying, a longstanding maritime tradition, utilizes a crane to lift a steel block into the new ship’s building dock laying the foundation for the new ship and marking the official start of the ship’s transformation from concept to reality.  We can’t wait for her official launch at the end of next year! It’s a milestone week for us with three new ship events, beginning with the official naming of Silversea’s Silver Ray in Lisbon this morning. Making the moment even more special is the brand’s celebration of their 30th anniversary, marking three decades as a pioneer and leader in ultra-luxury and expedition cruise travel. Royal Caribbean Group President and CEO Jason Liberty joined Silversea President Bert Hernandez for his first naming in his new role, alongside Dr. Josefina Olascoaga, ocean scientist and Silver Ray’s godmother, and Ray’s Captain Alessandro Zanello to officially name the ship. The ceremony was followed by the ceremonial champagne bottle-breaking on the ship’s hull and our customary tradition of the bagpipe performance. Dr. Josefina Olascoaga is an ocean scientist and Professor of Ocean Science at University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science where she co-leads OceanScope, a unique public, private academic program that equips Royal Caribbean Group ships with oceanographic instruments to collect vital ocean information. Her spirit of curiosity and depth of knowledge on the ocean make her the perfect Godmother for this innovative ship.

It’s World Oceans Day and we never miss an opportunity to celebrate the oceans we sail. We teamed up with Inter Miami CF and the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric and Earth Science to make ‘Coral Gardening’ available to locals in South Florida. We are sponsoring coral restoration expeditions with Rescue a Reef, University of Miami's coral conservation program, to provide recreational SCUBA divers and snorkelers meaningful and hands-on educational opportunities to contribute to coral tree planting.   These homegrown powerhouses met up with Benjamin Cremaschi, Inter Miami’s midfielder and South Florida native, to plant corals in "Royal Caribbean Group Reef," a new coral restoration site for research and rehabilitation. Working together we kicked-off coral expeditions that will result in over a thousand coral colonies being planted in reefs just miles from Miami's shoreline.   Learn more about this exciting partnership: https://lnkd.in/eE_H6stN   Interested locals can find more event and expedition information here: https://lnkd.in/efxD3NBZ

It’s World Oceans Day this Saturday, June 8 and we never miss an opportunity to celebrate the incredible oceans we sail. This year we are putting the spotlight on our OceanScope program, created in partnership with the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric and Earth Science that equips our ships with instruments providing scientists with critical information to study the oceans. In a new video series, we will help educate guests on key ocean topics like what an oceanographer is and understanding currents. Guests of all ages can test their ocean knowledge to earn a special “Ocean Explorer” certificate. The ocean inspires us, and we hope this series inspires our guests to SEA the Future.     Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eE_H6stN Interested locals can find more event and expedition information here: https://lnkd.in/efxD3NBZ

Last year, we began a journey to learn more about our teams and why Royal Caribbean Group is their employer of choice.  We asked shipboard, private destination and shoreside crew to share their WHY – why they joined, why they stay – to understand what makes this company so special. We heard hundreds of stories about on the innovative work we do, the growth opportunities available to all, the challenges that push us to grow personally and professionally, and the company’s commitment to doing the right thing.  And while all these reasons speak volumes about this incredible company that we are proud to call ours, one reason stood above all: OUR PEOPLE - how much we enjoy working with each other.    Today we're launching "Propelled by People: Our Stories" — an employee-portrait series created in partnership with renowned photographer Steve McCurry, famous for his captivating portrait entitled “Afghan Girl.”   Our company innovates to make dreams a reality. And at the heart of our business is our people who propel Royal Caribbean Group forward every day. They are the heartbeat of this company, and these are their stories.   #PropelledbyPeople
