Happy National Truck Driving Appreciation Week! September 15- 21 is the week to recognize the hard work and commitment of truck drivers. Truck drivers keep highways safe, deliver goods on time (in our case, pigs!), and undertake one of the most demanding jobs in the economy. Thank you to all of our truck wash employees and truck drivers. You are essential to SFI and we appreciate the miles and hours you put in!

Schwartz Farms is blessed to work with many amazing and talented people, the Cuda family at Cuda Pork being one of them! Based in Northeast Nebraska, the Cuda family has farmed for a century and started raising pork in 1978. In 2019, Loyd & Jill added a wean-to-finish facility to their operation and became a contract grower with Schwartz Farms. Loyd remarked, "I think it's rewarding to go to the meat case at the grocery store and see a quality affordable product that I had a part in producing." Like many growers, farming and raising livestock is a family affair. "When deciding to build a barn the goal to be able to bring my kids back to the operation someday was front and center," said Loyd, “I think for the size of our farm I’m glad that we can continue to keep it going and hopefully be able to pass it onto the next generation." Thank you, Loyd, for sharing the story of the Cuda Pork with us!

Meet Brock G., one of our Regional Wean Finish Managers! Brock was introduced to the pork industry in his youth and has been working with pigs ever since. He grew up on a dairy farm in Southeast Wisconsin. When Brock was 14, and his family sold the dairy cows and started raising pigs. In high school, he remodeled their calf barn and started his farrow to finish operation. Just like many of us, Brock showed pigs and judged dairy cattle in his years within the FFA organization. Brock is one of our regional wean-to-finish managers, but his journey with SFI started as a grower in 2015 with the farmer he worked for. In 2018, he joined the SFI family as a site supervisor and in the fall of 2023, he transitioned to POD Manager. When asked about his experience with SFI, Brock said, “I thoroughly enjoy all of the people I work with, from growers, employees, office staff, and everyone in between.” What’s most rewarding is “knowing that we are producing a quality product for the world to eat.” Thank you, Brock, for your work within SFI facilities and with various team members. We are so lucky to have you at SFI!

We are blessed to have many families working together within our barns, but very rarely does it go past two generations working under the same roof... until now! Tyler I. is a local high schooler who joined us for some summer employment. Tyler's father, grandfather, and two grandmothers are all employed at Huiras, making Tyler the third generation working within the sow farm! Between Tyler, Cody, Theresa, Lorne, and Jeannie, their family has a collective 78 years spent with SFI. Any guesses on what their family discusses at holidays and gatherings?🐷
