Initially, McGregor Metal produced this component using a mechanical press. However, the small draw required for the part presented a significant challenge, resulting in a defect rate of 50%. McGregor Metal decided to move the die to their 440-ton SEYI-America Inc. servo press. We asked the service team for another maintenance must that can help any metal stamper. Always adjust AND monitor your air counterbalance throughout the day. While many manufacturers adjust the system after each die change, few monitor it regularly for variations. Too often, our lead servo technician, Jason Hayes, has seen a plant set the system only to neglect it until a later die change. Pressure can fluctuate due to factory temperature, compressor workload, and other factors, leading to unnecessary wear on your press. We recommend hourly checks of the air counterbalance to ensure the system is working for the press - not against it. #metalstamping #maintenance #service #servopress
