In South Carolina, a medical center's emergency department (ED) was grappling with increasing patient numbers and longer wait times, leading to many patients leaving without receiving care. Despite efforts like a provider-in-triage (PIT) program, the lack of full-time nursing support made it challenging to fully staff the 25-bed ED and achieve the necessary improvements in patient care and throughput. See how we did it by following the link below! https://bit.ly/476Oxpt

Sound Physicians is historically known as a physician practice of hospitalists, emergency medicine clinicians, critical care clinicians, anesthesia, and telemedicine, but over the past several years, we've heavily focused on value-based care. In this blog, Dr. Thomas Kim, Chief Medical Officer, Sound Long-Term Care Management, talks about the importance of long-term care accountable care organizations (ACOs) and their benefits to long-term care patients. He breaks down the care model for Sound’s ACO and explains how they support participating physicians to achieve better outcomes. Medicine is as much an art as it is a science, and throughout history, many incredible medical breakthroughs have come about via trial and error. In this episode, April Burke, PA-C, MMS and Alicia Scheffer quiz one another on some interesting wonders to have made a mark on healthcare history. Play along, test your knowledge, and (hopefully) learn something new! After more than a decade of success with Sound’s hospital medicine program, a Southwestern U.S. hospital system awarded Sound Physicians the emergency medicine (EM) and hospital Medicine (HM) service lines for another of its hospitals. As with any transition from employed to outsourced groups, issues may arise. This hospital transition — which included the EM and HM physicians who were previously part of the hospital’s multispecialty group — presented a few of those challenges. Learn how our emergency and hospital medicine teams navigated the complex hospital transition by following the link here: https://bit.ly/4cFYpIT
