The Broad is a contemporary art museum in downtown Los Angeles founded by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad.

About us

The Broad makes its collection of contemporary art from the 1950s to the present accessible to the widest possible audience by presenting exhibitions and operating a lending program to art museums and galleries worldwide. By actively building a dynamic collection that features in-depth representations of influential contemporary artists and by advancing education and engagement through exhibitions and diverse public programming, the museum enriches, provokes, inspires, and fosters appreciation of art of our time.

Excited that our first ever post on LinkedIn is thrilling BREAKING NEWS: The Broad is expanding!     We are setting the course for the future, increasing access to the Broad art collection, and bringing you new museum experiences. This is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter!     The expanded Broad’s gallery and programming space will bring visitors closer to the artists they know and love—like Andy Warhol, Kara Walker, Barbara Kruger, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and so many others—as well as artists new to the collection—such as Cauleen Smith, Lauren Halsey, and Patrick Martinez.   Our growing museum will include beautiful courtyards to hang out outdoors and flexible live programming spaces to encounter boundary-breaking performances and concerts, making everyone’s visit even more special.      The expansion is designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R), the architects behind the original building. We’ll break ground in 2025 and stay open during construction. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to the expanded museum sometime before the 2028 Summer Olympics!      General admission will continue to be FREE. If you are interested in getting updates on the expansion, you can sign up to our newsletter below.
