Had a blast at The Brydon Group Owner's Summit last week in the Bahamas. Last week I took 15 short phone-calls with potential applications for Brydon CEO-in-Residence program (due 2/4 - link in comments). Here's 4 general tips I give to all applications. 1 - Everyone wants to be a CEO but do you want to be a CEO-in-Residence? Are you willing to sign-up for the unglamorous world of sourcing (although we make it fun by doing it together)? Make it clear you are ready and understand the model. 2 - Refine your thesis & "right to win". We love industry thesis and even better if you can also share a few sub-thesis and really refine why you win in those categories. 3 - Why Brydon? Our model is a deeper partnership on both sides and it's not for everyone. How do you tie into our sector-focused areas we thrive in (Business to Business (B2B), Business to Government (B2G) and healthcare software and services)? What excites you about our model, our values, our approach? 4 - Submit an Application. Some folks aren't 100% sure if they are ready for CIR this year or next. Or maybe they are on unsure on their thesis or unsure if they'd rather be a CEO or CXO. I always encourage folks to submit.
