Updates

  • There’s some serious groundwork underway at the Mill Creek 5 NCGG project in Louisville, Kentucky. Last month, the team completed early site excavations and began installing underground utilities. Crews also started preparations for major foundation work to begin pouring early next year. The site welcomed its first large piece of equipment this week, a Liebherr 1300 crawler crane that will be used to construct a tower crane at the end of the month. Civil, electrical and pipe teams also began underground duct bank and pipe work. “Our office complex is fully assembled and nearly 100% operational. Mass import operations are in full swing. This brings ample opportunities for talented electricians, pipefitters and operators — and there will only be more to come,” said Construction Manager Eric Thoendel. Congrats to the project team on their progress so far. Learn more about the project and browse the full job listings by downloading the TIC Craft News App: https://bit.ly/3uutK0t

  • ⌛From the TIC time vault. In 2013, TIC expanded the Tioga Gas Plant, converting it into a cryogenic gas processing facility and boosting its capacity from 100 to 250 million cubic feet per day, making it one of North Dakota’s largest at the time. TIC's scope included removing the existing flare system, foundations, grading, paving, piping, insulation, fireproofing, erecting the steel pipe rack and buildings, and installing a new flare system and large equipment. The team was met with a tight site footprint, blizzard-like conditions and sub-zero temperatures. This unique project is a testament to the dedication and skill of the TIC employees who made it a success.

  • Congratulations to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant’s (WIPP) Safety Significant Confinement Ventilation System (SSCVS) Project team for a job done well. TIC recently completed on-time construction of the SSCVS at the Department of Energy’s WIPP. TIC is a SSCVS subcontractor at WIPP. The WIPP site is a deep geological repository for transuranic (TRU) nuclear waste generated in support of our national defense by other DOE sites around the country. WIPP site operations mine an ancient salt formation 2,150 feet below the surface to create storage areas for TRU waste containers. The new SSCVS will significantly enhance airflow quality in the underground areas with a new high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) ventilation system, enabling simultaneous mining, waste placement and mining operations. TIC’s established NQA-1 quality program and realigned efforts with major vendors, following their bid-build project recovery assignment, quickly mobilized self-perform craft and equipment to mitigate project delays. They effectively applied resources in the remote yet competitive labor market of New Mexico.
