So pumped that I’ll be part of the team providing expertise in drafting the first-ever General Purpose AI Code of Practice, organized by the European Commission’s AI Office (CNECT). As part of this team of experts (I see you Dan Nechita - congrats!👏🏽), I'm excited to bring an operational perspective and contribute to this critical work to ensure that the AI Act's rules are effectively applied to GPAI models. What’s become clear to me from the countless conversations I’ve had with privacy leaders over the last 6 months as Transcend’s Field CPO is that it really does come back to the fundamentals. - How do we empower our companies to balance innovation with robust protections? - How do we use this technological turning point to strengthen our basics, rather than get distracted by “AI shiny thing” syndrome? (Think upleveled risk assessments, stronger data visibility, etc.) I’m excited to get started! #AIAct #GPAI #AIGovernance #EUAIOffice

Always feels good when your panel delivers on what you promised - an overview of privacy metrics that are relevant to exec teams. 😎 Thank you to Lauren Reid, Aaron Weller, and Avishai Ostrin for sharing your mastery of a topic that still challenges most privacy pros! Stop by the Transcend booth tomorrow and say hi! 👋🏽 #PSR24

Privacy PM @ Transcend | Building better Consent Management

I had the pleasure of closing out the IAB Privacy Compliance Salon this past weekend alongside Yanxiang “Arlene” Mu, Assistant General Counsel of the IAB. Our task was to distill 6+ hours of packed high quality sessions on the evolving landscape of privacy compliance in digital advertising into a 20 minute recap - keep reading for some of our thoughts! Conversations centered on the opportunities and challenges of activating permissioned first-party data for advertising campaigns, how data clean rooms can potentially help facilitate more compliant sharing of data between partners (some particularly invigorating and spirited conversations on this topic!), and the trends and challenges in health-related digital advertising. Topline takeaway? With the rapid evolution of technologies like AI-driven targeting and increased collection of first-party data, it's crucial for privacy practitioners to stay ahead of the curve. Practically, this means continually asking probing questions of our technology partners and prioritizing strong foundational data governance practices. One thing Arlene and I discussed specifically: while it can be tempting to nod and accept buzzword-filled generalizations (don't worry, the data is hashed, salted, and peppered!), it’s essential to dig deeper. Our focus must always be on consumer trust. Can you explain this technology to a regulator? How about to your mother? We also discussed the importance of never losing sight of the end users—for example, some companies are choosing to offer data rights across all 50 states, rather than limiting to just those required by law. A key part of this trust conversation? Building a robust privacy framework is critical for "earning" the ability to leverage exciting new AI technologies. Because, as we talk about a lot these days at Transcend, without a solid data governance program, structures for managing user permissions, and scalable risk assessment processes, it’s challenging to even begin to adopt a new technical opportunity. Thanks to everyone who participated in these vital discussions, and to Michael Hahn and team for bringing together such a robust series of conversations. If you were in the room, what were your takeaways? #Privacy #DataGovernance #DigitalAdvertising #CustomerTrust #IAB
