We're proud to announce the URA was awarded a three-year $200,000 grant and technical assistance from the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF)! The URA was one of five cohort organizations in the U.S. to receive this funding designed to support community development organizations with recent leadership transitions and to empower "proximate leaders.” The award will support Executive Director Susheela Nemani-Stanger in implementing her strategies and vision of stability and strength for the URA.

Congratulations to Shantell on her new home! The URA is proud to invest in new home buyers in the City of Pittsburgh through our OwnPGH Homeownership Program and the Housing Opportunity Fund's Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance Program. Affordable homeownership opportunities not only benefit individual homebuyers and their families, but also contribute to the overall health and prosperity of our Pittsburgh community. #HomeownershipMonth #AffordableHomeownership #HousingWithHeart
We're celebrating another family that is building generational wealth through homeownership! Congratulations on your new home, Shantell! Not only did DeAnna Davis help you find the house that you'll call home, but you also received over $117,000 in down payment and closing cost assistance (DPCC) to lower your monthly mortgage payment and minimize your out-of-pocket expenses! DeAnna Davis (Keller Williams), thank you for helping Shantell throughout her homebuying journey. You're a consummate professional. Clyde Owens, thank you for helping Shantell navigate the mortgage process, especially with the multiple grants. Fantastic work! I would also like the thank the following for their part in Shantell's achievement. *Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh (Alicia Majors, Rae Ann Driscoll, and Breanna Benjamin, MSW) and Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh for the additional assistance. *Willissae’s Agency For Vision and Empowerment (Charlise Smith) for providing the necessary homebuying education for the mortgage and grants. *Avenue to Close Settlement Services for a smooth and seamless transaction

Yesterday, we celebrated the culmination of years of partnerships and planning that has led to the transformation of the City of Pittsburgh's Larimer neighborhood through the Choice Neighborhoods Initiative, made possible by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The completion of Cornerstone Village brings 84 quality, mixed-income apartments and delivers the long vacant Larimer School back to the community. Our affiliate, PEIDC, is in the process of attracting tenants to the new commercial spaces and bringing thriving business to help the neighborhood flourish!

City of Pittsburgh Housing Opportunity Fund dollars at work! Beacon Communities LLC and Uptown Partners of Pittsburgh have been excellent partners in our shared vision for a more affordable, healthy Pittsburgh community, so we were proud to invest $1.6 million in the construction of the Standard on Fifth. This new, sustainably built apartment building will bring 51 units, 40 of which will be kept affordable, to the uniquely positioned Fifth Avenue corridor in Uptown. Kudos to all partners and lenders who came together to make this a reality!

We are proud to share the early retirement of the Summerset at Frick Park Tax Increment Financing District, effective at the end of this year. This means that the three taxing bodies — Allegheny County, City of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Public Schools — will receive a significant, sooner-than-anticipated influx of tax dollars, totaling a combined $1.8 million each year. Additionally, the URA will retire the Centre – Negley TIF District in Shadyside. Thanks to creative tools like Tax Increment Financing, we're able to foster large-scale development and public infrastructure improvements that otherwise would not be financially possible. Read more:
