Collision Conf was an exceptional event in Toronto, showcasing diverse technological advancements in health, medtech, software, energy, food, and beyond. AI emerged as a prominent theme, with presenters offering valuable insights into its applications and implications. It was fascinating to observe discussions about AI on a global platform, involving entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and investors. Two key takeaways stood out from the expert discussions: 1) AI is industry-agnostic, capable of being applied across various fields. However, in sectors like life science and medtech, where the stakes involve human health, stringent regulations are essential to ensure efficacy, safety, and privacy. 2) For startups: AI should complement, not define, a business model. Lastly, congratulations to VoxCell BioInnovations for winning Collision 2024’s PITCH competition! Their innovation is leading the industry forward.

In less than two weeks, we will be presenting at IEEE-USA IWRC Dakotas! IEEE-USA Innovation, Workforce, and Research Conferences (IWRC) bring together stakeholders from industry, government, and academia to meet, learn, talk, and discuss the CHIPS Act and other government programs that promote innovation and small business in rural America. Through the CHIPS Act, Congress allocated $56 Billion for chip manufacturing in the United States with a mandate that the government funding should be allocated throughout the United States. At IEEE-USA IWRC Dakotas, there will be opportunities to meet potential partners from the U.S. federal agencies and learn more about how you can contribute to your region’s innovation ecosystem. The team at IEEE-USA IWRC says it best - innovation takes more than ideas, it takes partnerships. Thank you to Faye Kann, Melissa Carl, and the rest of IEEE-USA team for making this event happen. Over 20 individuals from ISG joined us yesterday in our first site walk through at the USD Discovery District. These individuals represent ISG’s active and vibrant marketing team, who traveled to Sioux Falls to help us shape our messaging and story. They shared their insights on developing meaningful marketing campaigns to promote our research park, the community, and the region, addressing the opportunities for partnerships with life science and medtech companies. All of which will strengthen our communications as we continue to grow. We took a lot of notes… These significant projects do not happen by accident (thanks Steve for this insight!). Additional thanks to McGough, USD Sioux Falls, and USD GEAR Center for contributing to the event yesterday.
