The largest password compilation with nearly ten billion unique passwords was leaked on a popular hacking forum on July 4th. Threat actors could exploit the RockYou2024 password compilation to conduct brute-force attacks and gain unauthorized access to various online accounts used by individuals who employ passwords included in the dataset. The U.S. government has delayed public disclosures of cyber incidents several times since new rules came into force last December, a senior Justice Department official said. The SEC rules oblige publicly traded companies to publicly disclose cybersecurity incidents no later than four business days after they determine an attack will have a material impact on business operations.
