Summer's here, and as the temperatures rise, our furry friends need a little extra TLC to stay cool, comfortable, and safe. At Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming, we’re all about making sure your doggo is living their best life, especially during the hot summer months. Our very own Bianca Ferrari, MHRM Chief Officer of Woof Gang Way - Training, Standards, & Grooming, is excited to share her top tips to prevent heatstroke and keep your pup wagging all summer long.   💧Water on Tap, ALWAYS: Always make sure your dog has plenty of fresh water. Multiple water stations around your home and yard mean your pup can stay hydrated with ease – because who doesn’t love an ice-cold drink on a hot day?   🌇Walking Time? Think Cool: Opt for walks during the cooler parts of the day, like early morning or late evening. Avoid strenuous exercise during hot weather and pick shaded paths to keep your pup's paws and body cool. Hot paws are no fun!   🐾Paw Protection Patrol: Hot pavement or sand can burn your dog's paws very quickly and raise their body temperature. Test surfaces with your hand before walking your dog and stick to grassy or shaded routes.   ☀️Sunny days? Keep Your Pups in the Shade Avoid prolonged sunbathing. Keep your dog indoors or in shaded areas during peak sun hours to prevent overheating. No one wants a sunburnt pup!   🚰Hydration, Hydration, Hydration! Incorporate wet dog food, bone broth, or water into your dog’s diet for some extra moisture. Treat them to hydrating goodies like doggy ice cream, frozen yogurt treats, and chilled chews. Not only do these cool your pup down, but they also add a splash of nutrition. Woof Gang stores have plenty of these drool-worthy treats!   💦Splashing Good Time: Enjoy water activities like swimming in a dog-friendly lake or playing in a sprinkler. A shallow paddling pool in your yard can be a success! For indoor fun, play with interactive toys or join our Doggy Ice Cream Socials at Woof Gang stores – a treat for both you and your pup!   🥵Hot Dog? Not on Our Watch: Be on the lookout for signs of overheating like excessive panting, drooling, and lethargy. Dehydration signs include a dry nose, sunken eyes, and thick saliva. If your doggo is feeling the heat, act fast! Move them to a shady or air-conditioned area, offer small amounts of cool water, and apply cool water to their body. Use a fan to help lower their body temperature and keep a close eye on them. When in doubt, give your vet a shout! 🛁Splish Splash: Keep Your Pup Cool with Regular Bath Time! Last, but certainly not least, regular baths and grooming are key to keeping your dog cool and healthy in the summer. A clean coat helps regulate body temperature and keeps skin issues at bay. Just wrapped up an amazing trip visiting some of our newest Woof Gang locations. Started in Nashville, TN to visit the incredible Joelle Millar, who opened WGB Brentwood just a few weeks ago and immediately followed it up with the opening of WGB Hendersonville. Both stores are putting up incredible numbers, thanks to the team and excellent execution of the Woof Gang Way! Then headed north to Louisville, KY to meet with Jim Knight who opened WGB Plainview together with his partner Tim R. just a few weeks ago. Another beautiful location that is on an excellent path to outperform the benchmark thanks to the dedication of their excellent groomers Madison and Mallory, and their Manager Azia. Onto WGB Norton Commons north of Louisville where Bruno Di Giorgio just opened one of the most beautiful stores in the country with that iconic pink store front. Another great example of the Woof Gang Way executed at its finest, already delivering record-setting Week 1 performance. From there I headed north to Carmel, IN (just north of Indy) to meet with Manali Jadawala and her husband Nikunj at the newly opened WGB Carmel. Their huge signage draws the attention of everyone visiting that Fresh Market center right as they enter through the main access road. No surprise it was busy the entire time I was there. We also toured the sites for their next 2 Woof Gang locations in Westfield, IN and Zionsville, IN - and I feel great about where we are headed in this market! Incredible to see 5 new stores in three new States on one trip - all operated by Owners that I can say proudly represent our Brand and will take this Brand to new heights!
