👶👧🧒 The Children's Advocacy Center provides vital support and resources to children and families who have experienced trauma or abuse. We believe that every child deserves love, care, and a chance to heal. And that's where YOU come in! 🙌 🎁📚 We are seeking donations of new items that will bring joy and comfort to these young individuals. Here are some suggested items you can donate: 1️⃣ Toys and Games: Help brighten their days with age-appropriate toys, stuffed animals, puzzles, board games, and art supplies. 2️⃣ Books: Foster their love for reading by donating new or gently used books for all age groups. Inspire their imaginations and provide an escape into the world of storytelling. 3️⃣ Clothing and Accessories: Children and teens often need new clothes due to growth or changes in their circumstances. You can contribute by donating new clothing, shoes, and accessories. 4️⃣ School Supplies: Help them succeed academically by providing new school supplies, backpacks, notebooks, pens, pencils, and other essentials. 5️⃣ Personal Care Items: Support their well-being by donating new toiletries, hygiene products, and personal care items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and soap. 💙💚 Your generous donations will make a significant difference in the lives of these children and families , showing them that they are valued and cared for by their community. Let's come together and make a positive impact! 💙💚

Spotlight on Community Compassion! As the year draws to a close, we're inspired to shine a light on the outstanding efforts of United Way, particularly their latest endeavor – the Community Compassion Challenge. United Way's unwavering dedication to making a real difference in Clinton, Essex, and Franklin County is truly commendable. In these challenging times, their focus on crucial issues like homelessness among children, supporting ALICE families, and enhancing mental health services is more important than ever. How to Donate? Online Donations: The easiest way to contribute is through their online giving platform. Just visit https://buff.ly/3N5yn78 and follow the simple donation process. Mail a Check: If you prefer, you can also mail a check directly to United Way at their office address. Be sure to mention 'Community Compassion Challenge' in the memo line. In-Person Donations: Some local businesses and community centers might be hosting donation boxes for United Way. Dropping your contribution there is also a great way to help.

What do we know abt the extent of the declines in giving & volunteering rates to nonprofits? About their consequences and causes? And what do we know about those declines in relation to other expressions of generosity, outside of formal charitable nonprofits? In a new "landscape analysis" just released by The Generosity Commission, I take these questions on. I don't think it's a spoiler to quote here from what i guess is the peroration: "This is a moment to get our bearings, to take stock of the landscape. We are aware that it is changing, even as we recognize its established landmarks. We intuit that some of the changes are likely permanent, while others are reversible. Some we acknowledge as the product of broader social transformations which seem beyond our immediate control, while others we know are the products of decisions we have made and attitudes we have developed that are within our power to change or to reinforce, if we mobilize to do so. We welcome some of the changes as salutary adaptations—to technological advances or to socioeconomic conditions—while we acknowledge that other changes will likely mean reduced charitable resources making their way to nonprofits across the country, with deleterious consequences for those they serve. So, we inhabit this shifting landscape of generosity with some apprehension at its transformed terrain, with resolve to cultivate it purposefully where we can, and with excitement about how it will continue to develop in the coming years. If this moment represents in any respect a crisis of generosity, then it is one that we can approach with resolve, and even with wonder, at the opportunities that lie ahead." The landscape analysis is a teaser in a sense for The Generosity Commission's final report, which will be coming out in September, taking these issues on, and more.
