#Contraception is one of the most bipartisan issues out there: 91% of Americans across the political spectrum support the right to access #birthcontrol. Even so, some federal and state lawmakers have set their sights on dismantling this fundamental right. At risk is the ability of millions of people nationwide to access basic forms of birth control, including the pill, IUDs, and in some cases, even condoms. Under some proposals, providers wouldn’t be able to prescribe these medications, regardless of their medical purpose. It’s time for donors and other changemakers to take action. Reimbursement-based government grants are often difficult for nonprofits to access, because they must foot the bill for the work upfront. In the absence of additional philanthropic support, there are several steps nonprofits can take to reduce the burden of entering a reimbursement-based contract, such as partnering with established groups, exploring accounts receivable financing and factoring, or banking with your lender. These steps will help, but as nonprofits know, there are many other considerations to keep in mind when applying for new grants.
