And if you are interested to see more what is possible with 3D Printing. Have a look at our Researchers in Freiburg: A so-called "soft robotics" with low-cost production. They can be easily printed in a 3D printer. The material costs of the "turtle walker" are around seven euros. The movements controlled by compressed air ensure that they can grip more gently than their colleagues with mechanical grippers. The robot is extremely durable. The researchers have already used it under water, thrown it down several storeys and even run it over with a car. The eight-strong team from Freiburg is an international leader with its work. They attribute their success to the interdisciplinary team: researchers from the fields of physics, mechanical engineering and biomechanics are involved in the development process. This it is a very good example of our excelent work at our Universities with the so called "Cluster of Excellence" - Living, Adaptive and Energy-autonomous Materials Systems (#livMatS), specializes in the fabrication of smart bioinspired autonomous systems. #biomimetics #softrobots #bioinspired Dr. Falk Tauber Have a look here: https://lnkd.in/egujZeEd
THE LÄND: Pioneer of sustainable construction The world's largest 3D-printed building was recently completed in Heidelberg. In just 170 hours, the printer transformed the shell into a turnkey building. The so-called #Wavehouse is constructed from 333 tonnes of high-tech 3D construction material that is 100% recyclable ♻ and has a CO2 footprint that is half that of conventional cement 🌏💛. The innovative and sustainable building is used as a server hotel - a perfect use case for #3Dprinted houses and certainly just one of many innovations in the #constructionindustry that #THELÄND will bring forth in the future! 💡 👉 Do you want your company to be part of the #THELÄND? Demystifying Carbon Fiber: The Power of Reinforcement At its core, carbon fiber resembles a lightweight fabric woven from high-tensile fibers. However, to unlock its true potential, these fibers require a crucial partnership. Epoxy resin serves as the binding agent, effectively gluing the fibers together and forming a remarkably stiff structure. Advancements in epoxy formulations have yielded a range of strengths, ensuring an optimal bond for each application. The analogy to concrete and steel is apt. Here, epoxy acts as the essential element that allows carbon fiber to excel in structural reinforcement applications. A great terminal that is performing well on the Eutelsat OneWeb network during the late stages of development, prior to commercial readiness.
Intellian’s Flat Panel Series' sloped design, combined with a unique #hydrophobic coating, causes water to bead up and roll off the surface rather than spreading out or adhering to it. It's mesmerizing! #FlatPanelSeries #FlatPanelFriday #WatchThisSpace

📢 #FocusonFraming 2024 will tackle the issues facing the environment and how the light steel framing industry can do its part to help tackle climate change. ⭐ Steel construction provides the most sustainable and economic buildings, representing the most efficient use of resources. This longevity combined with the inherent value of an asset that can be recycled or reused at end of life means that steel is not a cost, it is an investment. ⭐ There are currently around 100 million tonnes of steel in buildings around the UK, and if this can be reused once a building has served its purpose rather than new steel created, then the carbon footprint of the construction industry can be dramatically reduced. ⭐ The benefits of reusing steel are not just environmental, but also economic and Focus on Framing 2024 will highlight this. Reusing steel means that construction firms do not have to pay for the manufacture of new steel, when reclaimed steel is just as suitable for new projects. Hear more about this from industry experts at #Focusonframing NEXT WEEK! There will be a Panel Debate Discussion on Circular Design where you will hear from Pete Hodgson, Tata Steel, Daniel Leech, Design4Structures, Charlotte-Frances Garrett, KOPE, Evangelia Nektaria Palkanoglou, GRAITEC UK 👏 Last chance to book your tickets! 🎟 Book here - https://lnkd.in/eKJBqjZS
