How can we create urban mobility solutions that truly serve everyone?   Tiago Oliveira, Associate Director, Transport Planning, highlights how we develop Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) with a focus on inclusivity. Our approach integrates diverse knowledge and skills while actively involving all stakeholders, particularly local communities. By focusing on fundamental aspects like correctly placing pedestrian crossings, we aim to create functional and accessible urban environments.   Watch the video to learn more about our inclusive approach to urban mobility: https://bit.ly/3WGxOGs #SustainableUrbanMobility #SustainableDevelopment #InclusivePlanning

Looking forward to engage with other specialists in matters relevant to sustainable transport in cities at Velo-city conference in June. If you're there, feel free to find me and discuss how Arup can collaborate with your city or organisation. #WeAreArup #VC24

It was a great pleasure to work on the “Space for Cargo Bikes” project with the Arup researchers Paula Godoy, Naomi Kloostra, and Martin van Oosten. https://dutchcycling.nl/knowledge/blogs-by-experts/space-for-cargo-bikes/ They will present the results at Velo-city conference in Ghendt.

Great insights, Tiago! Focusing on inclusivity and community involvement in Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans is key to creating truly accessible urban environments.

How well you know a place relies on how well you can move through its space. Accessibility is tied to mobility particularly in the urban context and when it comes to the global South, this can be critical for disadvantaged communities. I'm excited to see Arup championing an interdisciplinary approach to planning urban mobility, and I am keen to learn more on this.
