This report profiles three pilot programmes supported by the alliance that tackle three different policy challenges in Mexico City, Tsukuba and Istanbul. #smartcities #istanbul #G20smartcityalliance

It’s not always possible to be seated with the brightest people working on city development. At the Quality of Life Initiative Roundtable organised by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), issues like benchmarking, not working in isolations, citizen engagement, data collection and data sustainability were discussed. Some of these topics like data sustainability has never crossed my mind. I think I have gained some new perspective of Smart Cities. 🤔 can’t wait for the second day discussion.

【Promotion】 Road mobility is a double-edged sword: it’s essential for logistics within the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and Hong Kong, yet it’s also the source of significant roadside emissions, contributing to 20% of greenhouse gas emissions. The cross-boundary transport not only affects roadside air quality but also poses a challenge to public health and climate change mitigation efforts. The panel discussion will focus on evaluating the integration of road transport within the urban mobility masterplan and exploring impactful strategies, technological advancements, and policy measures to mitigate emissions and enhance air quality in road transportation across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. We will also examine Shenzhen’s initiative to establish low-emission zones and decarbonize its logistic fleet which presents a unique opportunity for Hong Kong to accelerate its own fleet decarbonization and enhance air quality. We are honoured to have Prof Edward Chan, Co-Founder of the Hong Kong E-vehicles Business General Association, Dr Saraansh Dave, Director – eMobility at CLP Power Hong Kong, Ms Eva Deng, Overseas Business Operation Director at Digital Sustainable Transport (DST), and Mr Ralph Xu, Head, Green Transportation at APAS - Automotive Platforms and Application Systems R&D Centre as our speakers for ‘Creating Solutions for Low Emission Road Transport. Moderated by Mr C.Y Lawrence Iu, our Executive Director. Smart cities: between artificial and collective intelligence. Last week, the great Frenchfounders association organised a talk with IMC. We talked about why we need smart cities, what are the limitations and what can we expect from it in the future Between the wide experience of Julien Mialaret with Eurazeo and the extensive research of Dominique BAILLARGEAT at Centre national de la recherche scientifique and the National University of Singapore, it has been a fascinating time.
