Being actively involved in Keep Scotland Beautiful's Climate Action Week demonstated as always how informed, influential and inspirational young people people are in the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss. Their understanding and determination about what they can do to address these issues at a school, community and global level, shows what mindset is required to ensure positive changes are implemented urgently and effectively. Yet simultaneously policy makers and UK government fail to share this awareness, instead choosing to make u-turns, cutbacks and modifications that will undeniably hinder these actions. It is no wonder then that more and more young people are describing a sense of frustration and helplessness. It is essential that the powers that be recognise this overwhelming concern and act upon its message, before this flame of positivity is completely extinguished. Only then will the younger generation be able to feel that their voices are being heard, and that their hard work and dedication is having a tangible impact. #climateaction #youthvoice #empowering

#ListeningSession 8 - GCF’s President and CEO, Matthew Randazzo and Chief Impact Officer, Rasheda Malcolm-Cromwell hosted an open forum with organizations in the environmental sector that enrich our region through environmental beautification, stewardship, education and more. The discussion covered a wide range of topics and shared experiences. *** CLIMATE COALITIONS GOING FROM “STRENGTH TO STRENGTH” *** The Council is continuing to progress work with a range of partners on ‘Climate Coalitions’ as part of its 10-year strategy to protect the environment and reduce the impact of climate change. The aim of the coalitions is to encourage and inspire residents, businesses, and other organisations to take positive action which will contribute to an environmentally sustainable Borough. Myself and some friends from The ONE Campaign are hosting an event on Saturday the 24th June as part of this year’s Great Big Green Week. There will be a chance to hear about the importance of climate and community action from local organisations, the ONE Campaign team and representatives from MK Council, as well as the opportunity to discuss and learn more about the climate crisis and what you can do to support initiatives near to you. We’re aiming to create a relaxed and constructive environment where we can come together and talk about MK’s current climate progress and foster discussions about what we can do better in the future.
