It is experienced through the lens of families, friends, and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America. Kevin Costner first commissioned "Horizon" as a single film in 1988, and after years of development and planning, it was announced in January 2022 that Costner would direct and produce the film, a passion project for him, in addition to starring. The production saw Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema joining to distribute. Costner has expressed his deep commitment to the project, even mortgaging personal assets to fund it, and has deferred all of his fees on the first two films. The first chapter of "Horizon: An American Saga" is scheduled to be released on June 28, 2024, with the second chapter following on August 16, 2024. Costner has plans to make four movies out of the premise and was looking to cast over 170 speaking roles, indicating the scale and ambition behind the project. Despite the limited technology and financial resources, its production team was able to turn a simple story into something that people around the world love and admire. One of the key challenges faced by the production team was managing the limitations of its special effects. As a creative attempt to overcome this limitation, primary colours [red, blue, and yellow] were used to create depth and contrast to the scenes. This decision, which could have otherwise been disastrous, was what would ultimately make the movie iconic and timeless. The unexpected result of this creative challenge serves as a great reminder of the power of innovation and resourcefulness.
