The "Normal-One" exits the spotlight (for now)
Reflecting on Jürgen Klopp's departure, I'm reminded of a key VRH management philosophy: "It's not about how they perceive you when you arrive, but how they feel when you depart." We call it our "Definition-of-Done," a guiding principle that provides an emotional compass in navigating the highs and lows of Premier League football and Business alike, aligning with your values and abilities.
Klopp epitomized the artistry of leadership, from knowing every individual's name, including the administrative staff at Liverpool Football Club, to engaging with the community - the fans -, establishing clear guidelines, and adhering to them rigorously. He trusted in evidence-based, data-driven training and team selection, parting ways with those who didn't abide by the rules while steadfastly supporting those who poured their hearts into the game.
Moreover, he stayed true to himself, even if it meant dropping the occasional F-bomb (I'm with you, Jürgen). He openly addressed issues like congested schedules to safeguard his players and never shied away from sharing his opinions on political and societal matters. Whether you agreed or not, his stance was clear and reasoned.
How do I feel now he's leaving? In my humble opinion, Jürgen Klopp stands as one of, if not the greatest coach of our time, bidding adieu to the stage, albeit temporarily. Here's to hoping we'll witness his return sooner rather than later... and preferably not at FC Bayern München 😋
