Drowning has taken more than 2.5 million lives over the last decade. We're investing an additional $60M to scale proven solutions that prevent drowning in Bangladesh, Ghana, India, Uganda, and Viet Nam, and to launch new efforts in 10 U.S. states with high numbers of drowning deaths including:    - Alaska - Arizona - California - Florida - Georgia - Louisiana - Michigan - New York - Oklahoma - Texas https://lnkd.in/e2tCRePa

I would have preferred that the US States had gotten the first piece of the pie instead of seconds ( or leftovers )

I'm really curious as to how this resource would be deployed in each country. Would the money be just given to govts or govt agencies to 'disburse' as they please or this support comes with monitoring systems in place to make sure it is used for the actual purpose? You can guess why I'm asking, right? #BloombergPhilanthropies You may have to treat this as a three year project with your own team resident and in place for the period. Maybe not all the listed countries may need this, but you may have to consider..

The Sea Tow Foundation is a US-based non-profit organization that is working to eliminate drowning through our life jacket loaner program that has locations in all 56 states/territories. We now have the largest life jacket loaner program in the world with over 1,300 locations where boaters and water users can borrow and return life jackets free of charge. We'd love to work with Bloomberg Philanthropies to expand this even further!

You should focus on Bawana town in the North West district of Delhi, which reports the highest number of child drowning cases each month.

Good initiative taken by Bloomberg. Bloomberg should consider the case of Bangladesh more positively. To support post Remal affected people in costal districts. Blooberg can allocate additional grant for repairing of houses damaged by Remal.
