On International Transgender Day of Visibility, we recognize that transgender and non-binary youth face significant challenges to education and safe, stable housing. Research indicates they experience much higher rates of homelessness and are disciplined at disproportionally higher rates than their non-LGBTQ+ peers. Learn more on our website about how our efforts address these and other inequities. #TransDayofVisibility #HousingJustice #SchoolJustice

Today is International Day of Sign Languages. Thank you PrideLab for organizing a human library session that highlighted: - The intersectional nature of identities, with a focus on disability (deafness) and transgender - Implications such as the need of equitable access to healthcare services (or the lackthereof) for marginalized groups in Hong Kong. In this case, it is sign interpretaters who are a) well-trained and professional b)with an understanding of LGBT+ vocabs What could workplaces potentially do to fill the gap? What ideas could we draw from this story and apply to the workplace? #diversityequityinclusion

Today, on May 17th, we stand together to commemorate the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia. Amidst our efforts to combat discrimination within the LGBTQ+ community, it's vital to shed light on a community often sidelined: 2SLGBTQIA individuals with developmental disabilities (IDD). Though concrete data remains scarce, research suggests a significant portion of the 2SLGBTQIA population also identifies with IDD. Sadly, this intersectional group confronts unique hurdles and biases from both the 2SLGBTQIA and disability communities. For 2SLGBTQIA individuals with IDD, the journey to freely express their gender identity and sexuality can be fraught with obstacles. They require tailored support services and networks to connect with peers facing similar challenges. Today, let's amplify our voices for greater inclusion, understanding, and advocacy to uplift 2SLGBTQIA individuals with developmental disabilities. Every individual deserves the liberty to live authentically, devoid of discrimination based on identity or ability. Together, let's dismantle prejudice in all its forms and cultivate a world that honours diversity, where every person is esteemed and embraced. #LGBTQEquality #DisabilityInclusion #EndDiscrimination

Empowering LGBTQ+ Caregivers: Stories of Love, Loss, and Triumph The International Caregivers Association is working hard at promoting inclusivity in dementia care. The episode (see below) illuminated unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ caregivers. Issues such as isolation and the need to select healthcare providers comfortable with their orientation were discussed candidly. Positive experiences in inclusive areas like California and New York City contrasted with occasional instances of discrimination... Legal tools and personal anecdotes underscored the power of preparedness in overcoming personal bigotry and ensuring smooth caregiving and end-of-life processes. https://lnkd.in/gWk9MEDU
