Introducing the new model to getting films and TV shows made, "Brand Finance". . . This is Timmy and Marty for Chanel. Brands are starting to make more content, especially longer / long form content. They are rapidly positioning themselves to become the new studios. The Barbie movie is the biggest, and so far, best case study example of this. As the head of global brand finance for film and TV, I can confirm that many more projects and brands are following suit. Private equity is far and in between these days, and although global co-productions certainly come with their perks that the U.S. doesn't offer - it is still not enough to provide budgets needed for bigger projects. Brands can do that much more sustainably than other companies, and in a way that puts them in immediate win-win situations from multiple sides. They can monetize ROIs on their own IP (which already has an embedded audience / customers), content, talent partnerships, and much more. For them, the most important words are "brand value and authenticity" - and beyond that it's pretty fair game, of course depending on the story, talent, and filmmakers attached. So memorize the term "brand finance", for it will become every storyteller and producer's best friend in the very near future. And as far as reactions go to this short film that was released yesterday, the fans are now eagerly asking for a Marty and Timmy official film collaboration.
