The stigma and shame surrounding obesity and society's treatment of it as a personal failure are holding the medical community back from providing treatment and support. In a recent interview with Healio, Monte Nido & Affiliates’ Chief Clinical Officer Melissa Orshan Spann, PhD, MBA, CEDS-C, discussed the significance of early detection of eating disorders, especially for primary care physicians (PCPs) and pediatricians. Dr. Spann emphasized the need for a non-discriminatory approach to discussing food and body image with patients, as eating disorders can impact anyone, especially with the increasing influence of social media and societal trends. Research indicates that children as young as six may experience body dissatisfaction and a desire to lose weight. At Monte Nido, we’re committed to eradicating eating disorders, and PCPs and pediatricians often play a critical role as the first line of detection for these illnesses. In people with multiple sclerosis, vascular comorbidity has been associated with physical activity and sedentary behavior. This study by Drs. Trinh (Lexi) Huynh, Brenda Jeng, and Rob Motl examines if these variables differed between Black and White people with MS. The study found that only moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) was significantly higher in White than Black people with MS (controlling for age, disease duration, marital status, education level, and income). Vascular comorbidity was also only seen to be associated with MVPA in White people with MS included in the study, pointing to physical activity as a potentially significant intervention. 💛 Endometriosis is one of top 20 most painful condition according to NHS. so I started a series of "Things you didn't know about endometriosis "Every day I post a new fact. Day2: Not Just a Reproductive Disorder: Endometriosis can affect multiple organs, including the bladder, intestines, and, in rare cases, the lungs and brain. Endometriosis extends beyond a mere reproductive disorder, affecting multiple organs across the body. It can lead to complications in the bladder and intestines, demonstrating its wide-reaching impact. In rare instances, it even affects the lungs and brain, highlighting its unpredictable nature. This complexity underscores the importance of recognizing endometriosis as a systemic health concern, not just a gynecological one. #EndometriosisAwareness #WomensHealth #SystemicHealth #BeyondReproductiveHealth #ChronicIllness #Healthcare #MedicalAwareness #EndoWarriors #MultiOrganImpact #InvisibleIllness
