Join us for the "Health Equity: From Lens to Science" symposium on January 25! Panelists will lay the foundation for creating a structured approach to health equity research. This symposium is open to anyone interested in health equity science. Register: https://lnkd.in/gnhPpWrm Open to anyone interested in health equity science. Congratulations to our University of Sydney medicine and health researchers who have received Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care Medical Research Future Fund (#MRFF) Primary health Care Research grants 🎉 ⭐ Professor Sarah Dennis will work with a multidisciplinary team to improve health outcomes of comprehensive evidence-based care for people with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). ⭐ Professor Trudy Rebbeck and her team will implement a new care pathway for Australians with burdensome musculoskeletal disorders living in rural and remote locations. The study intends to identify people who may recover well or poorly, using a simple online tool at the point of care to ensure a suitable recovery process. ⭐ Associate Professor Christopher Williams and his team address the low back pain impacting lifestyle risks for chronic disease and not receiving care to manage both. Their research will test if a co-designed adaptation of an effective lifestyle program can be scaled in rural primary care to support populations with lifestyle risks and disability from low back pain. Recently, health promotion researchers have begun to explore the theory of salutogenesis, the study of the origins of health, and its application to the field of health promotion. In recent work undertaken by Public Health Ontario, salutogenesis was identified as a topic of interest by health promoters working across Ontario. Our new resource explores the concept of salutogenesis and its application to the health promotion field. It was developed to support health promotion practitioners in public health, community health, health education, and public health professionals as a whole. https://lnkd.in/egj7bWkf

Hope in healthcare can feel nearly magical. The doctor took my hands, knotted from arthritis, looked into my eyes, and spoke to me with commitment. She told me that we would work together to restore my health. She didn’t grandstand, promising a life and a body that was uncertain, she committed that she would do her best. With earnestness in her own eyes, I knew that I could trust her. For the first time in many months, I had hope. In the latest Pulse & Principles post, I talk about hope and agency in health and healthcare, something we are exploring deeply at Obenauer Studiorum with our first research project, Heron.

Transboundary partners and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine have co-developed seven principles that are fundamental to enabling equitable research partnerships. The careful co-development process through which the principles were developed has been published in a new paper in PLOS Global Public Health, co-authored by colleagues from both LVCT HEALTH, a Kenyan healthcare NGO and LSTM. The principles are part of LSTM’s ongoing efforts to improve and undo harmful power structures that perpetuate inequities in global health partnerships. Watch our video below to hear Bertie Squire, our Dean of Partnerships, discuss the principles and how they were developed: https://lnkd.in/eQjWK3-9

🌍 We asked students from our online Master of Family Medicine programme about global health and the biggest challenges facing family medicine practitioners. Tania Gahama Ineza from Burundi told us the role of primary care in global health was an important issue: "In many parts of the world, it doesn't have a huge part in global health, and particularly in my setting, primary care is not well-developed. We need to advocate for more intervention in primary care." For Arthur Liu from Taiwan, the fragmentation of primary care is an issue: "A general practitioner can bridge the gap of medical care." And for Shavon Alleyne from Ghana, the ability to provide patient-centred care is an important global health challenge: "It's very important that health care professionals understand the importance of having a patient-centred approach towards providing health care.

Very happy to share new research recently published! Our latest abstract explores how IDPN Therapy boosts albumin levels in hemodialysis patients with Cirrhosis!!!!
The abstracts for National Kidney Foundation's Spring Clinical Meetings were recently published online as a supplement to this month's American Journal of Kidney Diseases. I am excited to have published an abstract this year on patients with cirrhosis receiving IDPN and will be presenting the poster at the meeting in May. Thanks, Patient Care America, for investing in these opportunities to share information that can help the dialysis community! https://lnkd.in/gmbAJrhi #NationalKidneyMonth #NationalNutritionMonth #abstract #evidencebased #dietitian #registereddietitian #dialysis #hemodialysis #nutritionsupport
