A scandalous post from UNESCO, concealing the original history of Nowruz by censoring the importance of its IRANIAN roots. The beginning of spring is being celebrated by many nations, such as Chinese and Japanese, but Nowruz is the most accurate estimation of it. The only country that has a calendar based on Nowruz is Iran. After that, Afghanistan used it as their official calendar too. Any nation or ethnic group that is now celebrating Nowruz has been either a part of Iran / Persia (e.g. Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, etc.) or is influenced by Iranian cultural elements (e.g. India, Mongolia, etc.). Ancient Iranians even made a special city for royal celebrations 2500 years ago! When the Achamanid Royal family moved from the winter capital (Susa) to the summer capital (Ecbatana), they celebrated Nowruz in Percepolice. The engravings on the remains of palace walls in Percepolis show the celebration customs and rituals in the Achamanid Empire. The first version of the modern Solar Hijri calendar, the Jalali calendar, was developed in the 11th century by a group of astronomers including the Persian scientist Omar Khayyam (1048 - 1131 AD). Centuries later, it became the official calendar of Iran in 1911 and Afghanistan in 1922. The difference is only in the names of the months: Iran uses the original Persian names for months. Afghanistan uses Arabic names of the zodiacal signs; for example, the Saur Revolution in 1978 took place in the second month of the Solar Hijri calendar (Persian Ordibehesht; Saur is named after Taurus.) One might ask: What is the point of having a UN organisation for Education, Science and Culture when the officials of such organisation distort a simple celebration message?!
#Nowruz is a celebration marking the arrival of spring. It is as rich in names as it is in traditions. Uniting people for over 3,000 years, Nowruz is an opportunity to step into the new year with renewed hope. It symbolizes the revival of nature and prosperity for families as they gather around traditional meals. Celebrating these cultural practices fosters solidarity and peace within communities. Nowruz was inscribed on UNESCO’s #IntangibleHeritage List in 2016 : https://lnkd.in/efmbEqaN #Afghanistan 🇦🇫 #Azerbaijan 🇦🇿 #India 🇮🇳 #Iran 🇮🇷 #Iraq 🇮🇶 #Kazakhstan 🇰🇿 #Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬 #Pakistan 🇵🇰 #Tajikistan 🇹🇯 #Turkey 🇹🇷 #Turkmenistan 🇹🇲 #Uzbekistan 🇺🇿 #LivingHeritage #ShareCulture #Spring #Renewal #Culture #Tradition #SharingHumanity #UNESCO

MAURITANIA – WHERE THE SAHARA MEETS THE SAHEL Mauritania is a country most people can’t find on a map. The few who are familiar with the name often confuse it with the very different Mauritius. It’s a large country and not particularly far to fly to from Europe and the United States, yet it’s one of the least visited. I’m mystified why, as there’s so much to see in its expansive deserts and long Atlantic coastline. https://lnkd.in/gbwvWbP5

UNESCO now put 20 cultural sites in #Ukraine under special protection - an important success for Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Culture, Anastasia Bondar. This is a further step to better protection of Ukraine's cultural heritage, from systematic destruction by #Russia. Will it stop Russia? Not likely. But it will help to bring to justice those who commit such barbaric acts. Ukraine needs more support - also to protect its art and culture. Let's continue to support Ukraine! https://lnkd.in/d3934prq

Governance of Peace & Security | Int’l & Regional Organisations (African Union & RECs) | Africa in the World & the World in Africa | Political Risk | Constitutionalism & Electoral Democracy in Africa | Horn + Great Lakes
Sudan's ongoing conflict demands urgent attention, with millions affected and a dire need for humanitarian assistance. In January, African Union appointed a high-level panel on Sudan, led by Mohamed Ibn Chambas, to tackle the crisis head-on. Despite challenges, including various diplomatic setbacks, the Panel’s constitution signals a renewed commitment by the AU to finding lasting solutions to the conflict. Chambas' deep understanding of Sudan's complexities offers hope for progress. However, skepticism persists about the Panel’s political leverage and ability to bring key stakeholders to the table. The Panel has already concluded its first shuttle diplomacy mission (in Port Sudan, Cairo, Addis Ababa, and Djibouti), engaging General al-Burhan, General Hemedti’s representatives, IGAD chair and Executive Secretary, and a wide range of political and civilian stakeholders. Direct engagement with Sudanese leaders, reconvening the Jeddah talks, coordinating all regional and international diplomatic efforts underway, and an inclusive political process are crucial steps towards forging a path to peace and ending Sudan’s devastating war and its associated humanitarian crisis. Did You Know? Ancient Egyptians were among the pioneers of maritime trade, utilizing the Nile River as a vital artery for transporting goods such as timber, ivory, and precious stones. They developed robust wooden cargo ships crafted from local acacia and imported cedar, which played a crucial role in Egypt's economic prosperity and cultural expansion. These ships were equipped with sails strategically positioned to harness the wind, enabling efficient navigation against the Nile's currents. The ancient Egyptians' maritime prowess extended beyond the Nile, as their cargo ships ventured into the Mediterranean Sea, facilitating trade with neighboring civilizations. These voyages were not merely commercial endeavors but also contributed to cultural exchange and diplomatic relations, solidifying Egypt's status as a dominant regional power during antiquity. At Ruswal Global, we continue to honor this legacy of maritime excellence. Since 2014, specializing in cargo and marine inspections, we ensure the safe and compliant transport of goods worldwide. From independent surveys to stringent adherence to international standards, our expertise supports efficient and reliable maritime operations across global ports and shipping routes. #DidYouKnow #AncientEgypt #MaritimeHistory #CargoShips #RuswalGlobal
