During today's summit on the occasion of the 20. birthday of the EDPS - European Data Protection Supervisor, Europol was represented by our independent Data Protection Officer Daniel Drewer. The topic of the discussion touched on the question how a functioning democratic oversight can be build in a world with evolving threat landscapes and digital challenges. The Data Protection Function is an integral part of Europol and the initial point of contact for all data protection issues. The unit is headed by the Data Protection Officer (DPO), who is appointed by Europol’s Management Board.
