AP (Advanced Placement®) courses and exams test high school students on their understanding and knowledge of college-level coursework. These courses are fast-paced and challenging, but performing well has many benefits. Many colleges and universities offer credit or advanced placement for students who score well on their AP exams. This can allow students to bypass introductory courses and enroll in higher-level classes, saving time and money in college. Getting an early introduction to college-level work can prepare you for your major too. Director @ More Than Learning Franchise | Looking for our founding franchisees who want to help us change the educational experience of every student we work with.
Words are very powerful. If you say REVISION to some students, they break into a cold sweat. 😰 Others might shrug their shoulders 🤷 and others might just try and forget about it. 🙈 I think we can all agree, learning how to revise should be on the national curriculum and sadly isn't. 📚✖️ If you are lucky, you find your way but many are not so lucky. 🍀 The key thing missing from most students' revision is repetition. Going back to a subject and revisiting what you know and don't know is key for great memory recall. 🔁🧠 Students think they can't learn or revise when they can't remember something. Two things stand in their way: 1. Not revising in the right way. 2. Not revisiting the material often enough. Learning is a process, and if you don't have the right process then revising can be difficult. 🔄📖 I love helping students discover their best way to learn and then they can remember what they've learnt. 🌟 Job done. ✅ If I can help your teenager, please do get in touch today. 📞💬 #RevisionTips #LearningProcess #StudentSupport #Education #ContactUs

Here is yet another strategy ♟️used in my class of IGCSE 0500 📃Paper 2 revision 📚 This paper is directed writing where students must follow certain set of instructions 🙇♂️and create 📝a piece of writing. The pivotal point being, students must be aware 🙆♀️of ALL the structural and language features 📑for 6 topics in directed writing for them to be #examready. How do #educators 👩🏫👨🏫 help 🛟students in revising features for these topics? here’s what I did: 📌On an A3 size paper, I wrote the names of the topics 📋 📌Placed A3 size on each table and informed students that it’s a workstation 🗂️ 📌Students were randomly given each workstation to work on along with the different colour pens 🖋️🖍️representing each student. 📌4 mins were given to write structural and language features along with other information that they know from prior learning 🙇♂️🤔💭 📌After 4 mins, students were asked to move 🚶♂️in a clockwise 🔁 to go to next workstation. 📌Here, they were expected to read 👓🤓the information written 📖and then add ➕📝on to it. It could be examples, high- quality/ sophisticated vocabulary, or simply terms from marking schemes. This part was a #challange for students to think hard and add on to the information. 📌Later, when they returned back to their original workstations, students were asked to open their textbook 📗 and check ✔️the information written. They would use #AFL strategies to self assess ✍️ This #collaborative 🤝approach helped students to identify the differences between the topics. They were able to #compare and #analyse the requirements. They were able to discuss and debate on the points mentioned by their peers and understand the rationale behind it. This was a breakaway from the traditional manner of students working on one table 🪑 At the end of the lesson, they produced an introductory paragraph for the topic which was #teacher- assessed. And the next day 🌞, they continued working on to producing 📊an answer for the same using the information written. Image attached of students working in their workstations and then self- assessing the information. #englishteacher #igcse #exampreparation #examsuccess #collaborativelearning #teachers #wss

The best way to know a subject is by writing assessment questions on it 📄🖊 As a child, I learned a unique way of studying from my mother. She used to insist that I should work on creating exam questions or test questions for the subjects I was studying. As you all know subject matter experts are perhaps the best people to know a subject with the proper depth required to create any form of assessment questions or to provide assistance during their creations. When I sat down to create these questions as a child and very reluctantly, I needed to think like an instructor. It was about what is important, what needs to be taught in depth, what needs to be tested. This painful process provided the insight to predict the questions in the exams and therefore smart study in the long run. On top of that, I used to get the term exam papers from last year or recent ones from several schools as I knew the students who used to take tuition from my mother. I was able to compare the styles across these reputed schools. Today as an education expert, I look back upon my learnings when I work on assignments and know how they still hold good. Do you agree? On the other hand, I also think: 🧐 Who started the practice of having exams to evaluate our knowledge???? #assessment #studyhacks #coursedesigning #id

When I taught second grade, the majority of my students had a hard time with quotation marks. They were not sure how to use them, when to use them, or how to identify in writing the words that were actually being spoken by someone. This first surprised me and then puzzled me. I thought it was relatively easy to discern which the spoken words were when I read. I didn’t know how much of their difficulty was due to a lack of focus on the content of the text, or if they just needed to be taught quotation marks in a more direct way. In retrospect, it seems that the difficulty for my students might have been that when a child is reading a passage, they are speaking ALL of it. So, there can be a bit of a challenge to separate words spoken by a character in the passage from those the child is speaking. No matter what the cause of confusion stemmed from, I knew that rather than verbally explaining a new or difficult concept, I needed to add some right-brain-friendly strategies. Once I infused my lessons with multisensory elements, my students were easily able to comprehend and correctly use quotation marks. The following lesson will show you how to help your students experience success, too! (This unit can last a week or two if you do all the suggested activities.) #quotationmarks #multisensory #teachingtips https://lnkd.in/g76aWpAC

Writing good, effective #learningobjectives (LOs) is very beneficial to #trainers, school #educators and #trainees or #students. It helps trainers/educators resist distraction and derailing, deliver content to specific purposes, constructively and comprehensibly, and give test or exam questions that are in constructive alignment with objectives. LOs enable trainees/students to easily see the purpose to which a session is tied, to commit to learning and to understand what is being taught, and challenges them to action. Thus, teaching/training and learning produce skills. Paulus Aditya Hernawan posted a one-page simplified guide to writing LOs, which you'll find very useful. https://lnkd.in/dQRGr74J
