Working 9-5 is not for everyone Flexible working is for 👇 ❤️ People with caring responsibilities, because life is hard to manage 🫱🏻🫲🏾 People of colour, because racism and microaggressions in offices are real 🦉 Night owls, because some people do their best work at odd hours 😷 Individuals with chronic conditions, as our bodies can be unpredictable 🛩 People who have emigrated, because they still want to see their families 👶 Working mothers, of course, as women still do the majority of the childcare ♿️ People with disabilities, because the traditional in-office 9-5 can be unworkable 🧠 Neurodivergent individuals, because sometimes the brain does not brain when and where you want it to 🏳️🌈 LGBTQIA+ individuals, because not everyone is out at work, and discrimination is still a thing This week on the podcast Jake and I were joined by the one and only Beth Carter from Flexa We talk about companies embracing flexible working that creates a more inclusive and equitable world of work. We also dive into Flexa marketplace dynamics, webinar tactics, and using user badges to get backlinks for SEO and other growth channels. Give it a listen this week 🎧 Just search for "In Growth We Trust" on Apple or Spotify. Kudos to those companies on Flexa who are embracing flexibility and creating more inclusive hiring processes ✌️ #FlexibleWorking #RemoteWorking #DiversityAndInclusion

Hey Yoann - I have lots of respect for you but I really don't agree with the tone of this. As an LGBTQIA+ person myself, the narrative that we should hide away for fear of discrimination is not something I subscribe to. I also don't see how not working 9 to 5 helps this situation in any way. On another note, I wonder whether businesses should really have to pander to every single individual's wish and whim at the expense of having a great office culture. There have to be boundaries when it comes to flexible working.

It’s hard to believe, with all the serious reasons listed that was ever a time that flexible working didn’t exist!!! How were we actually coping?!

The idea of having to work a 9 to 5 and having to be committed to one company at a time is archaic. It assumes people can't be trusted to focus on results instead of just being at their desk, or care about more than 1 thing at a time. The issue is that our whole belief and societal system is structured so that it's a struggle to not conform.

Flexible work is for us all. No matter when or from where you want to work, adapting flexible work practices enables you to do so. Will have to give the episode a listen!

Thanks for sharing this! It's so true and if I may add sensitive and introverted people too because sometimes going to an office every day can put our nervous system into overdrive depending on the culture in the office.
