Thanks to Chase Ultimate Rewards points, I've managed to book *almost free* roundtrip flights for my family of four to travel from NC to New Zealand THREE TIMES in a 6-year window 😲 🛫 👊 That's right. Three roundtrip trips to New Zealand. For FOUR people. Paying only taxes and fees (around a few hundred dollars each trip). Regular cash price is approx. $12-$15k+ per trip. 🤯 The last booking cost 440,000 points. People often ask how I earned that much in two years?!?! ⭐ Well, it all started with a spreadsheet 🤓 ⭐ From there, I've cycled through all the Chase cards, Chase biz cards, and United cards. ⭐ I then refer my husband to said cards (and refer friends and family), shop via United portals, and focus on category spending to maximize my earnings. ⭐ Last step: Pool all points (yes, you CAN combine points with household members), transfer to United (or partner airline of your choice), and book! 🎯 Pro-tip: You need an active United credit card to be able to see the cheapest award seats! (I learned this the hard way). Do you have a pile of Chase points just sitting there collecting dust? Read below about how to easily transfer them to partner airlines to book affordable travel around the world. 👇 If I can do it, so can you 🙌

Credit card lounge wars heating up. With Chase announcing a new Sapphire Lounge at LAX and Capital One announcing a new lounge at JFK and with dedicated lounge ads from Chase popping up during the opening weekend of ⚽Euro 2024 it feels like the lounge wars have gone up a notch in just the past few days. Chase Sapphire Reserve TV/video ads running for the past few months focus on Sapphire Lounge by the Club (4 locations open currently with more planned) with the provocative statement that "this is what an airport lounge is supposed to be." 👇 💡Lounge wars accelerate. With travel rebounding and younger consumers less loyal to airlines, banks have focused on the bank-branded travel card opportunity with airport lounges seemingly the key to capturing premium customers. As premium travel card marketing shifts to more of a focus on these costly lounge networks, I expect to see an explosion of side-by-side comparisons to support bold claims and unique offerings to create differentiation plus MORE DEDICATED LOUNGE ADS FROM BANKS. #travelcardmarketing #advertising #marketing #loungemarketing #loungewars

Does 'price creep' work on you, or does it turn you off. We are in the process of shopping for a vacation, and have found it to be quite frustrating. We keep engaging based on an advertised price, but by the time we get to the bottom line, and a bunch of 'incrementals' are added in, the price ends up being 2x- 3x the advertised price. Clearly the idea is to get consumer engagement via a low initial price, and then rely on escalation of commitment to push through a sale at a higher price point. This is not a new sales strategy by any means. Some 'low cost' airlines have been doing this for years, to the point where its sometimes more expensive to fly your bags than yourself. Ticketmaster is of course also famous for this, with convenience charges, print at home charges (I still don't get that one), and a bewildering array of additional charges padding advertised prices, often substantially. But my personal experience this week is that it has reached new levels, to the point where the advertised price is not even in the ball-park of reality. By the time some hotels had added 'resort fees', parking, taxes, covid surcharge or similar, some rates had more than doubled. And these are not options - try telling a hotel you don't want to pay resort fees. I suspect we all anticipate some level of upcharging and or 'hidden charges', especially in travel and entertainment. But where does it cease to be acceptable, and at what point does it break trust, become counter productive, and harm equity and future engagement? For me the cut off varies with the total cost, but I do have a rough rule of thumb that it a price is getting close to doubling, I'm out, and will probably ignore that company in future. Do you have upcharge thresholds too? Would you rather have transparent pricing?

If you're looking to maximize your travel rewards, you're probably considering these two popular options. But which one comes out on top? Chase offers more ways to earn points, including cash back cards that can be converted to Ultimate Rewards. But Amex has more premium card options and better shopping portal earnings. When it comes to redeeming points, both programs offer transfers to hotel and airline partners, but Amex points have a slightly higher average value. So, which one is right for you?
