The ongoing armed conflicts in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo have forced countless families to flee their homes, creating an immense humanitarian crisis. As violence continues, the needs of displaced populations grow more dire by the day. The Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is on the ground, providing crucial aid and support to those affected, but the scale of the crisis requires a collective effort. We urgently need more resources to deliver life-saving assistance, including shelter, food, medical care, and clean water. We call on all members of the humanitarian community, partners, and concerned individuals to join us in responding to this urgent need. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those who are most vulnerable. https://lnkd.in/d8MZN3rQ #HumanitarianAid #RedCross #RedCrescent #CRRDC #IFRC #HumanitarianCrisis_EasternDRC

Earlier in March, gunfire, artillery shelling and aerial attacks were reported in the Myanmar cities of Bhamo, Mansi and Sumprabum (Kachin state). Here, more than 18,000 people have been displaced across 10 areas since the renewed hostilities. The photo on this post shows one of the temporary camps for displaced families. Our colleagues and volunteers from Myanmar Red Cross Society are engaged in response activities including cash distributions to families who have had to flee their homes. Danish Red Cross is supporting this response! Amid the deepening humanitarian crisis, conflict has continued to escalate across states and regions of Myanmar in 2024. People are fleeing their homes in record numbers, with the total number of displaced people reaching more than 3 million, 90 per cent of them since 2021. Few humanitarian agencies are able to access areas of new displacement, due to transportation challenges, destruction of key infrastructure, roadblocks and organizational difficulty. Only a few local community- and faith-based organizations occasionally offer support to the many displaced people along our local volunteers and staff. In absence of adequate provisions, many face shortage of rations and are forced to borrow or share food, shelter in overcrowded settings, with poor access to basic services, including water and sanitation, health and psychological support. This is a bleak situation and challenging to response to, but we remain focused on our principled humanitarian aid in cooperation with international colleagues and do our best to meet the needs of those who are most vulnerable at this time. Our Myanmar colleagues and volunteers continue to work around the clock to support the many needs in this situation as far as possible! #alwaysthere #redcross #myanmar #displacement #cash #shelter

The continuing conflict in the DRC is featured in The New Humanitarian’s annual list of ten crises that demand your attention now, which highlights places in the world where needs are rising, aid budgets have been cut or are insufficient, and where people feel forgotten by the international community. Over the coming months, our First Person series will feature aid workers and people affected by the crises on this year’s list. In this episode, Nicholas Bahati Ndoolé, a humanitarian worker based in the city of Goma shares the many challenges his family faces, and explains why he feels he must shelter his relatives. https://buff.ly/4d0m1rc

CEO & Founder of the Authentic Leaders Institute, creating authentic leaders capable of leading us forward
During the last 48 hours they have attacked five aid distribution centres in Gaza. Killing 56 and wounding over 300. They plan to force through starvation and terror against the whole southern population to force them north towards their newly created ‘aid islands’ built with the aid of the US. These islands will trap the remaining population south of the newly created road to the US aid port that splits Gaza in half. Palestinians will never be allowed to return to the Northern half. They will take full control of the southern border and create a Palestinian free zone, enabling them to secure the new smaller Gaza concentration camp on all four sides. Palestinians remaining in the North will be forcefully moved, terrorised, killed or starved to squeeze the whole population into their grasp. They will create enough propaganda to convince the uncaring that this is a moral plan to save lives, nothing could be further than the truth. They will make the conditions in the newly created Gaza concentration camp so horrendous that many will die, be imprisoned or forced to escape for their lives. All will suffer, half will be children. They will permanently occupy the North and create their expanded Israel with Gaza’s wealth completely stolen. The question is not what they will do, for their horror is obvious and naive, the question is what will we do. To create the humanity we desire, we just need to follow our collective values and have the courage to act now. We will always prevail, for as long as one of us remains, we will protect our humanity. Their horrific crimes must be held accountable, but right now we need intervention to protect children and the innocent, not actions that create more horror. None can be blind any longer, choose the path of sanity and help end this madness now. #notinmyname #endthismadnessnow #evolutionoverrevolution

Since the beginning of the war in #Gaza, 8 months ago, cross-border tensions have intensified between #Lebanon and #Israel. With almost daily exchanges of fire between Israel and Hezbollah, the violence has forced over 94,000 people from Southern Lebanon to flee the area seeking safety. The economic crisis in Lebanon is compounding the challenges for those displaced by the conflict. Many have lost their main sources of income, such as farming or small businesses, and are now relying on aid, which is often insufficient. While local and international aid efforts are underway, significant gaps remain. Displaced individuals are relying heavily on support from family members abroad or small-scale local NGOs. Share this post to spread awareness about the ongoing crisis! #Refugees #ForcedDisplacement ( Photography by Elad Siton (https://lnkd.in/g_Mr6hAF), „Point 105 Israel-Lebanon border-2“, https://lnkd.in/dBxpzmdX )

Another battleground emerges in the Sudan conflict, extending its grip East-of and into Wad Madani, within Al Jazirah State. A State that has been refuge to nearly 500,000 conflict displaced Sudanese and over 2,900 secondarily displaced refugees since fighting first started on April 15, 2023. The pervasive sense of panic and the looming specter of displacement we witnessed then resurface, prompting people to seek solace on social media. Here, desperate pleas echo for guidance on escape routes from the escalating danger, appeals for hosts to shelter vulnerable families, and urgent calls for financial aid and fuel to embark on yet another journey of displacement, towards safety in a country besieged by threats. As this crisis fails to receive public attention, which more often than not will mean that it will also fail to receive adequate funding, the delivery of humanitarian support to those most in need is affected. Underreported crises like #Sudan, which is also an emergency within an emergency, are less likely to receive necessary support even as the situation remains tense. #KeepEyesOnSudan

this is incomprehensible
Transparency International mourns the death of Ghassan Gharib Zahran, the 13 year old son of Salam Zahran, our colleague from our Palestine chapter, the AMAN Coalition (TI Palestine). Ghassan was shot and killed on Tuesday by Israeli forces close to his village, Deir Abu Mishal, near Ramallah in the West Bank of Palestine. We extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to Salam Zahran, AMAN’s team member for 16 years, and her family. We wish them strength and comfort during this time of profound sorrow. The killing took place amidst escalating violence in the West Bank area, with a sharp increase in recent weeks in Israeli military operations and demolition works, tearing down essential infrastructure. Ghassan is one of more than 15,000 children killed in the West Bank and Gaza since 7 October 2023. Over 38,000 Palestinians have been killed during this period, while many of the survivors endure terrible humanitarian conditions, such as lack of basic shelter, food and water. Transparency International calls for an immediate ceasefire and urgent, meaningful steps toward durable peace. Borders must also be opened to enable extensive humanitarian aid to reach those in desperate need. http://anticorru.pt/338

#Haiti is in the grip of a dire humanitarian crisis as violence by armed gangs reaches alarming levels. People are hungry and lack access to essential services. They need urgent assistance. Humanitarians are on the ground, working tirelessly to help people in desperate need. However, urgent funding is critical to sustain the humanitarian operation. As of March 26, only 6.6% of the required funding has been received. Learn more about the crisis: https://bit.ly/3IZbe3P
