Earlier this summer, #CreativityWorks alumnus, Betsabe Velez, attended Leo Burnett UK's 'Leo’s Pathway' work experience programme - which she was connected to via Media Trust!
We asked Betsabe about her journey and insights on the programme...
What is Leo's Pathway?
"Leo's Pathway is a two-week work experience programme, granting young individuals a unique glimpse into the inner workings of an advertising agency and the behind-the-scenes magic of the ads we encounter daily."
What did you work on during the placement?
"I delved into crafting creative concepts, teamed up with account managers, and learned techniques for impactful campaigns. I explored various advertising roles and even took on a real brief, which allowed me to refine my skills!"
How do you feel you have grown during the placement?
"At first, I was nervous working with giants like McDonald's, Premier Inn, and Morrisons. However, the supportive and friendly environment quickly dispelled my concerns! It allowed me to interact with professionals and gain the confidence to share my ideas. This experience not only demystified the advertising world for me but also bolstered my overall self-assurance, making me more optimistic and confident about my future pursuits."
Has the placement influenced your career aspirations?
"Absolutely! The placement has had a profound impact on my career goals. Through the experience, I've discovered a path that resonates deeply with me. My mentor and the connections I've made have motivated me to pursue a career in advertising, and to aim for a role beyond internships - guiding me towards the goal of securing a permanent position in the industry."
