Have you ever hired a designer to design icons? I was... My first internship was in 2019 as a graphic design intern, where I exclusively worked on icon design. While every intern's dream was to design something big and unique, I was given a brief that required me to create something small, simple, and easy to understand. That's what graphic design is all about... I believe in a quote that says, "If your design doesn't solve anything, your design is art." I realized during my internship that even a small dot or corner design can make a huge difference in the overall design. Every brief in design was different, but the agenda was the same: "We are facing this problem. Can you solve it with the new design?" It's like we are warriors in front of the laptop screen. This is the belief we carry. There are designers who know 10+ software and countless AI techniques to create something immersive. But when you create a design using Canva and it works wonders for your client, does that mean you are not a designer? A VERY BIG NOOOOOO.... - Your design can be beautiful or ugly. - Your design can be small or big. - Your design can have multiple colors, many effects, and glows. But if it does not convey what it must, then it's not a design. P.S.: My first internship office space. Designers, please stop doing this 🛑 I've been interviewing interns, junior and senior level designers for the past 6 months and I have been observing some patterns. 🌱 Junior designers: 1. Please stop lying on your resumes and portfolios. If you write "Design Systems" with just 1-2 years of total experience, no one will believe you, unless you've been a part of a DLS team for those years. 2. Don't apply just because you see a post. See the company, see the role and apply if relevant. Because of you, a candidate who fulfils requirements of the role may get lost in the crowd. 3. Bring more maturity to your skill before you demand money and a role. 🌴 Mid-senior to senior designers: 1. I've been seeing outrageous demands for money with no regard for growth in skills. That's not going to get you anywhere after a few jumps. 2. If junior designers aren't true to themselves, their craft and are lying on their resumes, we're falling short somewhere. It is our responsibility to teach them the right ways. Please give back to the community 🙏 The craft of design is slowly turning corrupted. We're creators of experiences and builders of tools. So it's time to say it. Finally, I am totally open to work and searching for job in the field of visualization! It was an amazing 2.5 years at Dansani A/S I became acquainted with Danish working culture, and I must say, Dansani is the best company ever to work for! Dansani not only produces classical Danish furniture designs of perfect quality but also has a very high level of employee care. Unfortunately, due to reasons beyond our control (both Dansani and myself), we had to part ways. After my internship at Dansani ended in February, I needed some time to recharge, perhaps take a break and reflect on everything that was happening. But already at that time had the idea that I would like to try myself as a 3D artist and set aside my "technical designer" career. Since February, I have been working on my portfolio, exploring my opportunities in 3D. I am truly amazed by the opportunities that lie ahead of me in this field. The technical possibilities of 3D are incredible! I feel much more confident in using software, and the same goes for my artistic vision: the time I spent studying and researching interior design in the past few years is definitely paying off. I am much more confident with composition, and I already have ideas in my mind before I even start working on a composition. Moreover, I firmly believe that without being immersed in artistic expression, my life would lack the deep satisfaction and clear sense of direction that creativity brings. The act of creating, especially through visual arts like 3D visualization, awakens a strong passion within me that fuels my desire for discovery, constant improvement of my skills, and the continuous exploration of creative boundaries. This passion goes beyond mere professional ambitions; it is a fundamental part of who I am, shaping my identity and adding depth and purpose to every step of my journey. The first month of my internship as a graphic designer in meta² design studio at School of visual communication has ended. During this month, I created posts and cards dedicated to the holidays for one client according to his brand book. In the beginning, my visuals looked like a jumble of everything that came into my head. It’s even a pity that I didn’t save all the previous versions of each visual to see my path from chaos to order, from excess to minimalism. My mentor led me along this path and taught me to build a system, adhere to its rules when creating each visual, see the essence, sweep aside the unnecessary and inappropriate. The work went slowly, I again and again went beyond the system, layered unnecessary things, and my mentor again and again brought me back to order. Sometimes it was annoying 🙂 But I learned to look at design through the eyes of my experienced mentor, to notice the smallest details. This requires patience and concentration - those important qualities that you need to develop in yourself in this world of endless noise, bustle and chaos. Word-emotion: ORDER
